We arrived at RCX this morning at around 9:00 and setup camp at the huge RCP booth. The live feed started right about at 10:00am when the doors opened to the public.

UPDATE 04/19/08 11:00 AM

HBZ Warthog bolt on tube chassis release.

I received the pre-production tuber yesterday and my first impression was wow, this is a work of art! It took me 30 minutes to remove the stock AX10 chassis plates and bolt on the carbon fiber HBZ side plates to the stock AX10 skid plate, then I bolted on the tube chassis to the carbon side plates. HBZ also provided lexan body panels, fortunately I was lucky enough to have Jason of HBZ custom design the panel wraps.

Target price: $179
Target release date: Late May / early June

Detailed Specs:
  • USRCCA Legal for competition. Meets minimum tuber dimensional requirements.
  • Compact size reduces the chance of hangups, and keeps the center of gravity low. Bolt together design allows advanced users to build their own sub chassis and/or skidplates for different transmissions/suspension designs.
  • Lightweight (aluminum/stainless steel) construction is tough yet incredible light, keeping the vehicles weight as low as possible. Re-use of the Axial skidplate gives a convenient platform for mounting electronics and/or batteries.
  • Tuber will work with the stock long Axial shocks, or a standard 4" shock. All the other stock Ax10 components are a direct bolt-up!

UPDATE 04/19/08 1:00 PM

Axial Racing

Axial has a busy booth today with there cool layout that allows visitors to take control of an Axial RTR crawler on there "backyard" course.

The guys at Axial stepped it up this year with a very hot model handing out flyers.

UPDATE 04/19/08 02:00 PM

Panther's debut of their soon to be released gate marker set, said to be in about a month.

The gate markers are lighter and have a sticky feel to them. They are designed to collapse when crawled over which will be nice in the comp setting, making it more obvious if the gate marker has been hit. The gate marker set will come with 24 gatemarkers. 2 green markers and the rest blue and orange.

UPDATE 04/19/08 03:25 PM

Tamiya USA

I stopped by the Tamiya booth and the CR01 was going though it's random light sequence and also had the motor sound running. I can't wait for this rig to be released!

UPDATE 04/19/08 03:30 PM

RCP Crawlers

RCP booth still going strong. It was actually difficult to walk around the RCP booth without bumping into someone all day long.

UPDATE 04/19/08 04:00 PM

HPI Racing

Here is the new HPI Wheely King with the crawler conversion kit, which includes links, longer steering rod, link/shock mounting brackets with many options for different shock positions and body mounts.

HPI is also releasing a new crawling tire as well as beadlocks that hold the bead very well. I pulled hard with my thumb and could not pull the bead out. The bead lock rings come in 3 colors, silver, black and black chrome. The tire you see here is a early pre production tire so the lug pattern might change some, but they are very sticky and look like a very promissing comp tire.

UPDATE 04/19/08 04:30 PM

Last but not least for the end of Saturday I asked the Kyosho models if they would pose with a few rigs in front of the RCP crawling course.

UPDATE 04/20/08 10:00 AM

Axial Racing

Axial was displaying their impressive trophy's from RCCA, '08 Truck of the year and a first place in RC innovation. Great work guys!

Jeff and Matt asked if they could take a picture with the RCC crew (wishing Jason was here to be in the shot) while they hold their trophy's. Jeff is on the left, John (Badger) in the middle and Matt on the right.

Traxxas

I stopped by the Traxxas booth to check out the new Slash rig and ERevo. The Slash is much wider then I had thought, and looks great in person with the tires inside the fenders. The E Revo has a slick new 1 bolt easy access system to get to the motor.
