First off you will need a few tools and supplies. You will need lengths of 1/4" inch rod preferably aluminum, but steel will work as well. A tap along with screws (screws should match with the tap). You will need enough screws to put two in each link and thread lock to keep them in there. A screwdriver, and of course a drill.

First off you will need to measure out how long you need to make each link. Always measure twice. You don't want to waste any of your materials. I always cut mine a little bit big and then grind them down to get them as close to perfect as I can.
After you have all your cut links you will need to begin drilling. You can use a drill press, which will be much more accurate and easier or you can use a hand drill. As you can see in the picture I'm not using anything fancy. Just make sure you get it centered the first time and go slow. You only need to drill about ½ an inch deep.
The next step is to tap each hole. Make sure you go slow and don't apply too much pressure because you can snap a tap. I have done it before. For about every ¼ turn forward go ¼ turn back. Basically just go until you feel resistance and then back the tap out a little. This can take a little time so be patient.
Now that all the holes are tapped apply thread lock to each screw and just screw them in. Make sure to wipe off any excess thread lock. After installing all the screw's you should have links that look something like this.
Next you will need to cut off the ends of the screws. I usually leave about 1 cm of thread left. After cutting the screws you will need to grind down the edges of them as to not strip the ballcups when you install them. You can either use a dremel tool or a table grinder. They should look similar to this.

Now all you have to do is install your ball cups and go test them out on your truck. These will be one of the strongest points on your truck, so you wont be having to replace these anytime soon.
