DNA CFX Release words and photos by Pete Bach 10/29/08

DNA Slingshot CFX Chassis

DNA has designed and produced some of the most innovative products on the market today for the hardcore rc crawler enthusiast.  The Slingshot Chassis has proven to aid in an extreme low center of gravity, combined with an incredible low weight.  DNA has just taken their design one step further and now offers the competition Slingshot Chassis in a new material, ultra low weight, Carbon Fiber.  In an effort to reduce weight even further, DNA has also been exploring in the fabrication of other parts from Carbon Fiber.  New fully functional bead lock wheels made from Carbon Fiber have also hit the market and look to be a great alternative to the typical plastic and aluminum units we've all used in the past.  It is also possible to combine your CF pieces with the current aluminum and Delrin parts from DNA, to customize your crawler beyond the Average Joe next door.  You want servo mounts, link mounts or any other mounts made from Carbon Fiber, yes, DNA now makes them for the weight concious competitor!

I recently got the chance to drive a fully loaded rig, clad with all Carbon Fiber components from DNA.  I've seen them all and have driven them all and can report that, with this particular truck, it is a point and shoot affair.  Combining the excellent minimalistic design of the Slingshot, then reducing the weight everywhere else possible, it allowed the Panther Tires to grab onto anything in it's path.  Little effort is needed by the electronics to propell the truck up and over any rocks.  Stability is where this type of a competition rig shines and on slick rock, it is nothing short of amazing on how it performs.  After scaling seemingly impossible climbs and decents during some test driving, I couldn't help but contact Don, at DNA, to get my hands on some of his new creations for myself and am currently assembling a crawler that I plan on competing with in the Summer Series.

Check out the pictures of this awesome rig.
It was built, owned and is driven by Dustin Moore of Colorado.
Watch for Dustin on the competition scene, as this rig might even outshine his driving skills next summer season in Colorado.
