| How many of you have ever been 1:1 crawling/4wheeling?
Just curious. Be thruthfull. It seems that there are a lot of people that have never crawled or 4wheeled a real 1:1 truck before. It usually shows in the way they design their R/C.

| Re: How many of you have ever been 1:1 crawling/4wheeling? Yes! I've been into 1:1 rockcrawling for over 6 years. I had a Suzuki Samurai that I built from the ground up.... locked, geared and caged. I 'wheeled the crap out of it for years all over Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, Arkansas and Oklahoma. I wanted bigger tires which would require more power and stronger drivetrain so I sold it after I had beaten it almost to death. Disney, OK Bought a stock solid axle, EFI Toyota last year. Collected parts all summer then spent the winter in the garage building it into this. before: after: Now it's got dual transfer cases, Detroit locked 4.88:1 diffs, Warn winch, 1/2 ton Chevy rear springs, 4" lift front springs, x-over steering, homemade flatbed and 36" Swamper IROK radials. I have taken the truck to Tellico NC and to the Windrock ORV park in TN since completing the build-up. Rode trails with Raptorman57 from this board earlier this year, he also has a Xcab Toyota. We have another trip to Tellico planned for the 2nd weekend in October. |

Here are some pics of the last two rigs. The TJ was a 4banger bought in 96' and had a 0000000**** 4digit serial # on the count of TJ's made. The XJ was the first low buck rig I did. less than 10k with trailer. |

I used to go all the time! In the ultimate stocker! THE HUMMER. Not a freakin H2. Weve created a close group of friends that weve gathered through the HUMMER club. Now when the group goes out to "Play" we do a mix of motorcycling and 4 wheeling. And a lot of screwing around and blowing stuff up. |

I've been wheeling once with an older friend. It was a full fledged trail ride. The fact is, I'm a city boy. My family isn't into wheeling, so there's no one to go with except for my friends. When we do go, it's at least an hour's drive to a decent trail. I used to look at Peterson's 4 Wheel & Offroad magazine all the time when I was younger. I love real rock crawlers, but it's a little hard to build one when your dad doesn't have Dana 60s and MIG welders laying around the garage. ;) Hence why I'm into RC.

Every once in a while I go to glamis (sand dunes) in a 60's or 70's something cj-5 with 20"-25" wide paddles and a 383 stroker. A big v8 and straight pipes with the engine bouncing off the rev limiter is loud, to say the least.

I've been waiting to take my lifted Nissan truck to Badlands offroad park. There is a large Nissan fourwheeling club in my area.

Been wheeling for upwards of 16 years between dad and later myself doing the driving. I am operable 4x4 less right now, as my samurai is waiting for the right 1.6L, and trans rebuild, and toy axles to be put in. I'm also a member of an Oregon based club, Oregon Trail fourwheel drive assoc. RSI, your bro does kick@$$ work, "streetzuki" is what I'm modeling mine after. Sweet talk him into helping, and the costs would be much much lower. |
