The Kamikaze Barn Buggy (a real one!)

I started a buggy a few months ago, I just now have really started cracking on it. Joe and I are swinging the axles under it on Friday and hopefully we will have the complete drivetrain in by Monday.

Any who I have been holding out on RCC so here are the specs and pics.

I have been doing machine/fab work on the side for David Parker, the owner and operator of The Barn 4x4 Works here in Columbia, for several years. So now it is my turn to build my rig.

For the drive train I am using a 1.6l 16 valve Suzuki Sidekick motor. Behind it I am using the 5 speed sidekick tranny, and behind that I am using a modified Sidekick t-case. It has the front output and all related internals removed so it is just a reduction box. That will feed a Suzuki Samurai t-case. The rear will have a trailworks Samurai rear driveshaft disconnect mated to a Toyota IFS CV driveshaft. The front will use a Geo Tracker rear driveshaft that has been modified to fit into a carrier bearing with a Toyota rear axle flange, to which another Toyota IFS CV driveshaft will be attatched. From there the front axle is a 85' Toyota mini truck axle with 4.88's, a Detroit locker, and 30 spline longfields. The rear axle.....is another front axle. I cut and rotated the diff cover and cut and rotated the knuckle balls to make a passenger side offset rear steer axle to match the offset rear output of the samurai t-case. It will also be stuffed with 4.88's, Detroit, and longs. The rubber will be 39.5" Irocks. I have two 8"x2" Dalton hydraulic cylinders for the steering. The 4 link suspension starts with the 7/8" chromoly heims and 2" 6061 T6 aluminum hex lower links, with 3/4" chromoly heims and 1.5" chromoly dom uppers. I am running Fox 2.0 air shocks out back while up front I will be using jeep tj coils and Bilstein 7100 remote reservoir shocks I am using a pair of 2000 lbs winches for the front and rear axle winches and a warn 8000 lbs winch for the unstucking duties. There is more stuff, seats, 5 points and all that junk. Anyway here are some pics.
