Made a little more progress over the weekend! Picked up a Superchips Flashcal to adjust for tire size and turn off the tire pressure monitoring system. Installed the wheels and tires. It is a tight fit but on the street I am only seeing minimal rubbing on the front bumper. For the rear I bent the pinch seam out of the way until I can cut it off. Also stripped the spare tire and carrier off the rear tailgate. Found some button plugs to fill the holes at Ace hardware and reinstalled the carrier bolts for now. May have to make a tramp stamp for the rear, and relocate the license plate too. Still chipping away!

Took a quick day trip with the family yesterday to try out the new suspension lift. Pretty impressed so far, the ride is firm on the street, but still has a soft feel off road.

We will have more photos and video coming soon!

From one JK owner to another, I strongly suggest you replace all your ball joints ASAP!! They are craptastic from the factory. They are completely plastic on the inside, hence no zerk fitting. Let me suggest either poly performance or the MOOG joints from advance auto parts. Both are made from sintered metal but the poly performance joints are rebuildable.

I agree....stock ball joints are shit! So far I've had decent luck with the Polys, but I think I need to probably rebuild my driver upper one, as I put grease in it the other day and it took quite a bit. Not to mention, I noticed some coming out where it meets the knuckle. So either the boot is just bad, or maybe the spring pulled it off the joint. Or the joint itself is just going bad.

Also, if you have haven't already, consider replacing your tie rod and drag link for the bigger tires down the road. Poly/Synergy is good stuff, as they use GM 1-ton ends.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Ball joints are definitely on our never ending wish list.

I am indeed. Seems like a couple of long-time people are on the fringe of leaving, though. Not I said the blind man...

My ball joints were shot at 28K and I've only had 33's on it since buying it with 8K. Not impressed. Went with Moog HD's when I had the front end fixed this past spring.

Why are they wanting to leave? I know i haven't been over there as much this past year but i have been getting back over there the past two weeks. I did notice a lot of long timers haven't posted recently. Did something happen that I'm not aware of?

Not that I know of. But like StubExRube, who's been a long-time mod over there may be leaving. Maybe not leaving, but looking to sell his Jeep and maybe pick up a Taco. I haven't been on there much the past few days myself.

Sad thing is I've been to his town so many times it's not funny and yet I've never looked him up to go grab a beer! I need to do that soon, though.

We are digging it! Weather has been decent, and it is way more laid back here. Unlike the rat race in California!
