Default Blown 1970 Chevelle SS

Hey Guys, as some of you may know I pretty much sold off all of my "show" R/C rigs, because last year I was presented an opportunity to buy my buddys 1970 Chevelle SS. He had already installed a 468 Big block motor in it just before I bought it last fall. Once I got the car home I pulled out the motor and tranny ( muncie 4 speed) and went thru the entire thing over the winter, and then re-built and repainted it my way ( which also included the addition of the polished Weiand 6-71 blower). Now I finally believe its worthy of posting a few pics.. I've still got a LONG ways to go.. ( need to buy a new pair of blower referenced carbs, wire up the ignition system, run new fuel line and pressure regulator to the carbs, need to buy another blower belt as well as the correct pulley relocation spacers, etc, etc, etc ). As time goes on, I'm sure more of my R/C stuff will end up on here in the for sale section when I need more parts for this thing, LOL, should be a pretty fun toy when its all done..!! Will post more pics as the build progresses.

So sick. What kind of compression are you running? How many lbs of boost with that pulley set up?
Very jealous man. I had an 82 c10 with a stroked 496 I wish I never would have parted with.

Are you setting up to run pump fuel?

Thanks man..!! The compression is right at 8.5:1 and right now the pulleys are setup with an 8% underdrive ( until I can get it all fine tuned), then I will play with the boost and see how much trouble I can get in..!! As of right now I haven't even fired it up yet with the current setup ( I can't hardly wait for the first time I turn the key..!!!) , Oh and yes, This thing will be streetable and will be run on pump gas ( 92 octane) and fuel additive if it needs to be higher. The Idea with this car is sort of a "pro mod/pro touring" style car when its all done, which reminds me - still gotta add the interior rollcage..!!

Yes, 12 bolt posi rear end, oh, and I already installed a line-lock.., I better stock up on rear tires now..!!!!

After doing some research online, I contacted a guy over in New Zealand ( yeah, you read that right) and I had him make me the blower scoop, with custom anodized parts and fittings . I purchased it from "www.alsblowers.com". The guy that runs the shop over there has direct ties with the legendary drag racer Don Garlits..!! I had to wait for almost 2 months to get it, but it was 1000% worth the wait - It is by FAR one of the single nicest custom pieces I have EVER seen...!!

Weiand's (why-and) webbed front blower drive cover looks the best the industry has to offer (make sure the gears have oil!!!). BTW, screw the carbs and save the cash for injection under that bugcatcher!

Oh, sweet ride man, gotta' love the sound of the weez!

Thanks, I love that look as well..! ( oh, and yes the drive gears have plenty of oil..!! ). Injection would be nice but its MAD expensive ( ALOT more than the current set-up I've got now). I'll prob just keep it carb'd for now, and see what happens in the future..

Thanks Dude, Yes the previous owner had painted it white. When I'm done however, it will be the correct GM "Cranberry Red" with gloss black racing stripes.. I actually have another hood ( minus the true SS "cowl Induction" vent) that I've already cut a hole thru for the blower. Just gotta weld in an inseam and start some finish bodywork.

Here it is the day I picked it up from my buddy last fall ( I bought it just as you see it in the pics below). It also came with a TON of extra and spare parts as well..!! I absolutely LOVE the American Racing Torq thrust wheels and BFG tires on it and it made me want the car that much more knowing those were included with the sale..! Its in really great shape overall with NO major rust issues, the body just needs a little TLC, which is the next step I've got to get going on once the motor is complete..!! . It sits a little high in the nose, so I'll be adding 2" drop spindles, and will also going UP in tire size in the rear to give it a real mean "rake" when its done, which is exactly the look I'm going after.

Heres the "Before" shot of the motor right before I pulled it out to go thru it.

Ha!

I don't think the Chevelle will make it through the Rubicon.

Hey, I could always modify it for ya..!!!

And just think - with that blown motor, you wouldn't have to worry about "crawling" over the rocks, you'd simply fly over them..!! LOL !!

Awesome, straight trade!

But first do me a favor and figure out how many gas cans will fit in the trunk. For some strange reason I have the feeling I might need some extra fuel....
