Just ordered the Goodyear Wrangler MT/R's with Kevlar 32/11.50-15 from Discount Tire and trying to see if they can order the U.S. Wheel for me too. |

Done... for now! I'd like the next serious mod to be a rear locker. I'd love to get a Toyota E-Locker... or maybe spring for an ARB air locker. And then... 3.4 swap. |

id save the elocker or arb for the front & get a simple and cheap mechanical one for the rear. ive never had issues with mine other than the occasional loud pop.

Think I found a rear bumper... better get the piggy bank ready, it's gonna take some saving. MultiCarrier: Toyota - 4Runner (1984-1989) | Tactical Armor Group - Bumper Store |

Nice tires. I just realized that this is a 3.0 truck. Fear not, many of mine have been as well. Truth be told you probably have a good one as the 87-90.5ish 3.0's have asbestos in the headgaskets and seem to hold together much better than the later redesigned gaskets, which were frequently butchered by flat rate technicians during warranty/recall repair at the dealer(which pays way less than "customer pay repair"). I swear it's the earlier 3.0s that nobody had to F with that go the distance. (that said, you should adjust your valves even though it is a huge PIA compared to a 4 cylinder if you want it to run forever because there is a very good chance that no-one ever has. PS: the special tool is worth buying even if you only have to use it once) My current wheeler is and 89 with a never-apart 3.0 somewhere north of 120K when the speedo went inop six years ago. No plans for swapping what ain't broke. I've helped a couple friends swap 3.4's in place of 3.0's. Basically your going to want an entire donor rig, and whatever you think it will cost you, double it. By any chance is this 4Runner an automatic with an "A340H" transmission code? Do you know what is has for axle codes? I still say you should lunchbox lock the rear and weld the front. With little tires I don't believe you'll have breakage problems if your still driving it with DD purposes in the back of your mind while wheeling. |

Took the 4Runner on a 500 mile road trip with the top rolled up the whole way a couple weekends ago. I love this truck. The tires felt well behaved on the highway at 65mph, even in the rain. |

| Re: 88' 4Runner: mild build by noob I was waiting to hear back from the guy and after a few weks past the day he was supposed to... I lost interest. It wasn't really as fun to drive as I thought it'd be... so I decided to build a 4 wheel steer 88-91 Prelude with a modern turbo charged engine. I had an 89 Prelude SI 4ws before my WRX and still miss driving it to this day... it was way more fun to drive than my Subaru... perhaps the funnest driving car out of the 19 that I've owned. I was looking for a clean Prelude to start with for a few months with no luck... So yesterday, I bought this 1961 Mercedes 220S. Last edited by johnnyh66; 09-27-2015 at 08:48 PM. |

| Re: 88' 4Runner: mild build by noob wow! is that a lucky price or are they usually priced like that? Sweet:thumbup: The best part is the front grill. IIRC you had yourself locked on it couple months back. |
