Chevy K5 1987 Thoughts

Looking to get a 87 Blazer for an expedition type rig. I do a lot of camping and my XJ is getting a little more full each trip. Why 87 you ask? Meets some of my requirements. Removal top, TBI, 700R4, reasonably light weight (Some 87-91years were porky pig) and Bad ass look when lifted. I don't do much boulder crawling anymore but would like to not be afraid to go over a 2ft boulder or rut to get to a more secluded area. I know it won't flex like my XJ but maybe with some 64" springs and shackle work it might be OK. I read a lot of "I would never sell it" comments while doing some research. How does everyone like theirs? Anything to be aware of? I am in CA so it should be rust free. Looking to spend in the $7-10k range.
