Default Toyofast's 1984 Toyota insta-build....

10 years ago I sold my beloved '83 Toyota, same time Gerrish and I started playing with toy trucks together. So, after 10 long years I'm back in the game. I found a "turn-key" wheeler. It'll work great for our Axial auto show display too.

Info...

1984 Toyota standard cab truck

Interior- All-Pro interior cage to frame, Beard seats with 3" lap belts & stock belts, herculiner and dynomated, clean carpet on the floor, a radio w/ 2 speakers, Cobra 75wxst cb and a nice clean dash with only small area of it ripped up.

Under the hood- '89 22re swapped in, FJ80 brake master, 12-way marine power block, ARB compressor, Howe power steering TC pump and cooler all hooked to hydro assist ram on axle and flowmaster muffler(too loud for my tastes).

Trans/tcases- '89 5-speed transmission, dual tcases(marlin adapter) 2.28x5.0 rear has twin stick, 23-spline, BudBuilt crossmember, High Angle CV drivelines front and rear.

Axles-
Front- axle trussed, armored, Trunion bearing eliminator, ARP studs, 6-shooter knuckles, 30-spline Longs, All-Pro crossover, Randy's built HP diff with 5.29s, ARB locker, IFS brake swap, Rock Stomper hydro assist ram.
Rear- TG chromo shafts, disc brake conversion, 5.29 with Detroit, BTF gusset.

Suspension-
Front- TG 4" soft springs, custom front hanger with intrgrated receiver hitch, All-Pro u-bolt flip kit, All-Pro 14" shock hoops with crossover bar over engine, 14" Bilstein 5100.
Rear- TG 60 " super soft springs with forward hanger frenched into frame, shock mounts fabbed to top of axle, u-bolt eliminator.

Body- 1984 cab, Hannon fiberglass fenders and fresh paint job.

Armor- All-Pro front bumper with Mile Marker 8000lb winch, All-Pro sliders integrated to frame/bed/cage, custom flat bed with integrated tool box and tons of anchoring points around bed, swing out tire carrier with Hi-Lift mount.

Tire/Wheel- 37" BFG Krawlers on 17x9 Allied bead locks

Misc- Max Air compressor in tool box that fills the 3 gallon air tank under bed, Kilby quick connect on left and right sides of bed, 11 undercarriage rock lights, hotdog cooker, and more...

All I'm left with is getting new door panels, replace windshield trim, swap out ugly tan carpet for charcoal colored carpet and get a dash at to help save the nice dash pad.

Runs awesome, drives great... It's going to be a keeper, one that will get used but kept nice and clean.

I agree on the carpet, charcoal would look better.

Why in the hell would anybody put light coloured carpet in a vehicle that will be going offroad?

Everytime I see threads with these trucks it makes me kick myself in the ass for not buying a 1980 Toyota that was for sale here a year ago......

Gotta remember the carpet is stock, in 1984 I'm pretty sure the folks at Toyota didn't invision today's off road lifestyle.

Thanks, I'm really enjoying this thing. I keep buying interior parts at work to make the interior more appealing to the eyes.

Nice rig! Good to see your name back on the screen. I miss the RC truck videos, but maybe we will see some 1:1 action.

I know the '02-'03 fenders are larger than the 00-01 fenders, hence the slight differences in what rubs an what doesn't. I did trim a small amount but not much. With the 4.90 gears it has the perfect hwy cruising rpms. I'm averaging 19mpg with the 33s.

G6 in Bend.... I have to work that Saturday but I'm going to try to leave early and buzz over there. Probably miss most the action but would like to see some folks. Plus I need to get the trailer from my folks place over there.

The cooker is real!

It was really dirty when I drove over the mountain pass, caked in snow, dirt and wet road spray. Gross!
