Default Looneybins K5 baby

Current pics

Picked it up a couple months back for $800 with a bad motor. Slapped in a 305 i had laying around(literally) and been workin little by little on it. 0 rust factory silverado edition with every option they had. I love it. Plan to do a 6in lift with 36 and build a hot little 350 for it. I have a set of 10in rallye wheels that are getting cleaned up at the moment.

Nice rig....I'd run a 37" tire with a 6" lift. I run 35" General grabbers on my K5 with a 4" lift and don't rub at all. I ran 35's and a 6" on my last K5 and it had way too much wheel well. Just my $.02

Thanks yea $$$ is the only reason i was going to run smaller tires. Ideally i would like a 20x38 combo. I bought a 4x4 to play with but it just too nice to beat on it. So im going to fix it up. Im in the middle of redoing the interior with diamond plate and bedliner. Going to run the rare 10in wide rallyes on the truck until i can buy some nice rims. Then the rallye rims are going on the back of mine and my brothers pair of 65 c-10s. But thats a whole nother story....

Yea the 305 is a turd but its a tank. It ran after sitting outside a shed under a old hood on a pallet for 8 years. Before that it was in a work van and had around 60k on it since the last oil change. It was free so i replaced intake gaskets, did a oil change and rebuilt the quadrajunk. it didnt smoke or leak so i let it ride. Runs great at hwy and intetstate speeds with those toyo proxys and drift wheels

Extremely clean K5 you have there. Have you considered a 383 instead of the 350? I had a 383 in an old '71 K5 blazer, it was a torque monster that moved the heavy truck around with ease.

hell with a 383, throw an LS motor in it! a cammed 6.0L would be awesome in it.

Well its less clean but more fun. I am shopping for a lift and tires right now or looking to pick up another clean 87 from down the road. It has has some dings and dent but no rust other than some surface stuff. It is stock but has a rebuilt 350 with headers and a little work. Going to swap parts and motors and maybe hook my little bro up with his own 4x4 project

Other blazer

Well I ordered up a cheap 4in lift and 1in ORD body lift. Going to try and get it done I the next few weeks and shop for some new tires. Going to try and run 35s but not sure the gears are gonna be happy. Long term plans for the next year or so are to do a DIY4x4 shackle flip in the rear, 1in zero rates, and track down a Dana 60/14 bolt axle combo and build it proper. In talks right now trying to find a way to bend tubing so we can build a full cage in it. Getting in over my head.....

Got the lift kit installed. All in all very easy job except for the fact we had to do it just outside the 1 year old 30x40 shop cause its full of furniture at the moment and it rained on and off. Kit went together without a hitch other than useless brake line drop brackets. This was a cheap rough country 4in lift. $350 shipped to my door. Its not the greatest setup but for riding around and playin in the mud it suites me fine. I do plan to completely change the setup when I'm ready to do the 1 ton swap. Now to find some tires. I am going to get some bloggers if I have to buy them 1 at a time......

Not to hijack this thread but I just picked up this project and I'm curious to find out some history of it. Is this the same K5 as in the first pics of this thread? Not the fullsize but the little one with unpainted body.

Looks like it.

Damn I need tires!

Ordered some add leafs for the rear to fix the saggy butt and some wheel spacers for the rear to bring the rear track width out to match the front.
