| 1930 Model A Ford "Ratrod" Pickup
Hey guys, I've always wanted to build a hot rod or rat rod of some kind and started searching around for descent rollers for sale over the summer. I ended up finding and buying this one a few months ago on Craigslist, and couldn't be happier..! Its an all steel 1930 Model A Ford truck, sitting on a fully boxed and reinforced 1930 frame, the cab has been chopped 3" and channeled 2". The bed is from a '34 ford truck, and has been bobbed and reversed. Its got a 4" dropped front axle, front disc brakes and stops on a dime. Its got a brand new crate Chevy 350 engine and turbo 350 tranny, and to top it off, its actually got a Dana 44 rear axle out of a mid 70's Jeep grand wagoneer..! ( yeah, I'm glad its got some Jeep parts in there somewhere..! ha ha ha ). The guy I bought it from had the right idea, but some of his welds and choice of components were just plain wrong. Plans for this one are simple, re-build it the right way, changing everything that dosen't look right or belong, and then with minor bodywork, and new flat black paint, get this thing ready for cruizing around next spring ! Drop it to the ground....put some stacks behind the cab and put dual wheels and tires on it....

I actually remember seeing your 4Runner thread. It SURE does make me miss my '85. Luckily, I sold it to a collector in Texas who gave it the royal treatment. That Chevelle though..... you, sir, have GREAT taste in vehicles and how to make them built up right. Good luck with everything! | |

Not a big fan of fake patina myself, but it's a good looking truck. Nice work.

I actually fully agree with you Tommy R !! The previous owner(s) skim coated the entire cab and doors with bondo. I tried to grind off what I could, but the patchwork, and welding underneath it all was pretty bad and made me realize that this cab was just easier to paint the way I did, and that was the way too go with this truck ! Trust me, I would much rather have had it all "real" rust (the full inner bed and dashboard are truly rusty, so doesn't that count..? LOL! ). I first painted it all flat black, which did look cool, but then going this route with it, makes it look so much better IMO (pics don't do it justice!!) Looks pretty good! I thought the steering wheel was 3D printed at first. That's aluminum?
