Default Need help finding a part...

2000 Mitsu Montero Sport 4wd 3.5l

Long story short: a nice chunk of granite beat the ever-loving snot out of the underside of the truck, and punched/tore a hole in the transmission pan. Its patched back together, though I'd feel a whole lot better with a new/used one.

But I can't find one...

No luck on ebay. I'll try "challenger" and see what pops up.

Another alternative is that you could search (I'm searching as well) for the transmission model name and then search with the model name. A lot of those Japanese manufacturers buy from the same supplier, so most likely it could be a Nissan/Toyota/Honda transmission. If that's the case, you can then search the manufacturer's databases and might be able to track it down.

Also, You can measure the oil pan and then take those measurements and compare to the other pans you find online. Most will work if it is a common shape.

I'll be helping you look for one!

Let me rephrase....I don't know anyone with a welder that is a reasonable driving distance from my residence.

I kinda-sorta think that it is a Toyota transmission. The parts guy kept wanting to sell me the wrong pan gasket (not enough bolt holes) and we eventually determined that it was an uncommon type. Even then, couldn't find out much more than that.

Hmm, that's interesting. It could be a Toyota transmission though. You would have to compare the main cases to determine if it is infact a Toyota transmission. They always change the name for their use.

Is your transmission a 4 speed or 5 speed tiptronic?

Start serching with the name "INVECS-II". That may start to show better results.

That came to mind first, but I'm really just interested in a replacement as long as it isn't stupid expensive.

A little Googlefu says that the tranny is an Aisin Warner 30-40FL... seems like you might be able to rob the tranny pan off an early model Cherokee with an Auto. AKA AW4?

Pretty sure its a 4 spd.

The most obvious difference between the two available choices is the bolt count on the pan is different. IIRC one has 19 and the other has 20.
