'66 Bug - The start of A Restoration. So, I have always wanted a bug, and one day the woman showed some interest, and I saw it as a chance to get her hooked on cars. Between the bug and the HHR SS shes been showing alot of interest and is currently looking for a WRX or MazdaSpeed3. So its worked out pretty well. We looked for a few weeks, from finished bugs to projects, after seeing what the finished bug world had to offer, most of them lacked quality, so we decided on a project. Came across a 66 Bug that was 100% complete, and the previous owner had started to tear it down for restoration, then left it in a barn for 20 years, where a scrapper picked it up but decided to resale it instead of sending it to the crusher. Plan to have new pans in and a restored rolling chassis by next winter, then during next winter it will get the engine/trans built for it. http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...psbb3899a3.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...pse3b5b46b.jpg I'm a little disappointed at the amount of rust, its not horrible, but its not the rust free bug that was described to me. http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps61fe89df.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps9e261510.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps606e7122.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...psdabd544c.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...psa8133b41.jpg |
