1tonblazer 5 Attachment(s) This is my 1:1 Crawler... It is a 1987 K5 Blazer, has an '06 Chevy 6.0L/4L80E combo in it, 1 ton axles with 4:88s and ARBs, 4.3:1 Atlas, custom 4linked front end, 40" Trepadors and 42" Swampers, custom cage and doors, lots of rock rash... and lots more... I truly drive this truck daily, though I don't have a commute to work. I have been wheeling this rig for years and keep seeing guys bringing scale crawlers on the trail and decided to get one... that was 12 rc trucks ago LOL. now I'm as addicted to the scale thing almost as much as the full size thing... I enjoy building and tinkering on them almost more than driving them (rc wise)... Matt |
Re: 1tonblazer Nice! I love seein the full size rigs on the trails. I've own about 4-5 73-87 Chevys myself. Still my fav. truck |
Re: 1tonblazer ^^me too im on my 3rd '83-'87 rig, i love this k5, got pics of the 4-link and engine cage for the coilovers? i would die for a 1-ton 4-linked axle setup lol |
Re: 1tonblazer These are my fav body style trucks also, i am on my 5th myself and this my 2nd 6.2 k5. Is that the softtoppers soft top? I been trying to save up for one of those for mine. |
Re: 1tonblazer I like your rig. It seems to be well thought out. You have axles that can handle the big tires and provide safe braking for it, the suspension is capable of good articulation, yet it isn't jacked up in the air like a mall crawler. I wish there were more rigs built like this instead of seeing the typical red neck POS trucks that seem to get too much attention. "thumbsup" |
Re: 1tonblazer Awesome truck you've built there. You did an excellent job modernizing the drive-train and suspension while retaining the truck's original charm and character. Hats off to ya. Any idea what it weighs? |
Re: 1tonblazer Really nice K5 I've got 2 currently a 74 off road and a 75 frame off resto road queen. I've had a total of 12 in my life time. Nearly all my RC's are K5's. My wife says I have issues...i'm ok with that! |

Sorry about the delayed response, it weighs around 6k... it's a heavy Chevy for sure |
Re: 1tonblazer 3 Attachment(s) I broke a wheel on my last outing, so replaced them with a set of Raceline Monsters... 17x9.5 Also included pics of my mall crawler version too 8) |
