Default greenjk's 83 Suburban

I thought I'd share some pics of my 83 Suburban, pretty rare down here as they were never available from a dealer, it's a Silverado 2wd with almost every factory option (I think), 350, t700. I've owned it for around 10 years and can't see myself ever letting it go.

It had a full body of chassis resto in 1992 by the previous owner, body was also back to bare metal and he fitted the 91 front clip, new carpet and retrimmed the interior as well as fitting the billet eagle alloys, altho I'm tempted to put the original Rally wheels back on.

Wow!!!!! Thats THE cleanest looking burban ive ever seen!!!!my pops had an 88 brown and tan and it was the best truck for doing just about everything.
But it seems like the guy you bought yours off of had the same problem everyone we knew did....one spec of rust and they'll rust away in the blink of an eye,we knew 6 or 7 people that had suburbans and everyone of them had the same problem.the bodies just didnt last, but if you could get past the rust they'll run forever!!!! Again, killer truck bud

It's just started to get a few small rust bubbles in a couple of places, mainly because I had to leave it parked in the weather for a couple of years, but now it's garaged, the back to metal rebuild was for a color change. And has also been rust proofed.

Got any pics of this, I love these thing's and would welcome more pics as they are very rare where I'm from, I've only ever seen about 6 others, none of them as clean as mine.

Heres a few pics I got from the previous owner, as you can see it was a ground up, body off chassis, chassis 2 pack black, body to bare metal and 91 front fitted and 2 pack white , new carpet, retrim, new switches, chrome trims, window/door rubbers etc. all in around 1992. You can also see it came with all original books, and in one of the pics you will see the K30 cab he used for the firewall to do the RHD conversion as well as his C30 tilt tray.

I bet those really are rare down there. I've got an 89 GMC suburban that my dad bought in 93 or so and gave to me 15yrs ago. For about the last 2yrs I've been rebuilding it, eventually it'll be an expedition/camping rig. She's now got a 2004 5.3l, 4l80e, clocked/SYE'd 241 case, one ton axles, crossover steering, 5" if lift and 37s. She's still a work in progress, tons left to do. Just got her driving last week.

I like the front end on that model. I drive a 99 yukon denali. one of my favorite features is the double rear doors like the surburban, instead of the hatchback/tailgate combo. I use it as my daily driver and to pull my little camper.

Is the RHD conversion mandatory for one of these vehicles to be imported into OZ?

Not any more, although I think it depends on the age of the vehicle, this being an 83 model could stay LHD, which is quite common now, it can also have club registration which limits me to only drive it 90 days a year, drops the price from around $600 a year to around $130.

I managed to buy a reco Quadrajet carb and Edelbrock performer manifold for this off ebay recently, fitted the carb last week and WOW what a difference, the original was really bad, I'm still chasing a few fitting's for the manifold before I can fit it, then might look at doing something with the exhaust before putting it on the dyno for a tune up. We went to a local show today so heres a couple of pics.
