|  Range Rover P38 Shock/tire question.
I have a 1998 Range Rover 4.6 HSE (P3  and it has the adjustable ride height air bags removed and a coil spring conversion with a 3" lift installed. (I know Land Rover purist hate this conversion) also Goodyear DuraTrac tires.My problem is it is very sketchy especially with dips in the road or switching lanes on the interstate (the seam between lanes). The shocks are still stock and i'm wondering if that is the problem possibly the wrong length now or could the tires be the culprit. I have owned several lifted trucks that never had this issue just tired of white knuckling my way home.  Throwing this out there to see if anyone has experienced this issue or ran the DuraTracs? |

Sounds like you should contact Roversnorth.com to discuss your shock options. They are sickly attached to everything Rover. Tires shouldn't be causing any issues as long as they are aired to spec and aren't severely cupped/chopped. |

How's your alignment and/or tire wear? Loose steering (play in steering wheel), twitchy with steering input or wanders? Body roll or does it feel bump steer or like you are running out of shock travel? More information please. Vehicles with scary handling issues are best dealt with first hand by a competent mechanic.

What exactly do you mean by "sketchy"? Can you describe exactly what it does? Is there an extension for the shock mounts with that 3" lift? You try rotating the tires front to rear? That took care of the twitchy steering on my FJ40 when I bought it. Last edited by chino63; 11-20-2014 at 10:54 PM. |

I need to try rotating . By sketchy I mean any pavement imperfections or sudden dips and you better have a good hold on the steering wheel. I need to check on the shock mounts, the conversion was already on the truck when I bought it and my first guess was the shocks might need replaced. |
