Next up 3/3 drop ![]() new upper and lower ball joints, new tie rods set including the idler arm ![]() ![]() finished up all the bed supports ![]() It will come down another 1.5" when the engine trans are in . Might still lower it another 2" . I want it to ride good so not sure yet . ![]() ![]() engine mounts in, it is getting moved back 6" from stock . This should make it handle much better than stock truck . ![]() Last edited by Badd; 11-10-2015 at 09:14 AM. |

Got to love the versatility of the S10 frame, and the 4.3 is it the standard or the Vortech? Lookin good so far ima keep and eye on this one.

| ![]() Yep the S10 frame worked good for me . As for the 4.3 it is an 89 model with the throttle body not the Vortech . I just want a good cruiser that is easy on gas .

I am going to make chassis super nice . So I pulled the truck back apart . Had the frame sandblasted and get it in primer and paint in Dec. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I placed the order for my tires this week . I got COKER Classic Wide Whitewall Radial 235/75R15 . Oh yes we will be rolling Gangster with the big 3 1/8" white walls . I also ordered my upper/lower control arms, spring insulator, sway bar bushing/link kit, front and rear shocks and a set of 2" drop spindles . Last edited by Badd; 01-07-2016 at 05:53 PM. |

It got up to around 44 so it was not to bad out . So I busted out some parts and got to work . New upper and lower control arm on . New 2" drop spindles on with new 3" drop springs . Also got the motor mount from the kit back on . As well as the upper spring pads . My bearings did come in today but it was after I had put the tools away . My front dust shield are junk . I have tried to find new without any luck . I guess I will check a few pick -a-parts . ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Nice project, it looks like a fun one to build and one that will be a gas to drive. Its cool you knew it as a kid it has memories built in that go with it. It was a great rescue it was literally on its last legs.

| ![]() thanks I hope so It does have a lot of meening to me . My mother had a dog back then named Shorty . He would run this truck and bite at the running boards . So I have named the truck Shorty . It fits because of that and the fact that there is 12.5" out of the bed . |

I also painted and reinstalled the steering box . Got the complete tie rod assembly back on . The core support bulkhead back on the frame . ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I got the 4wd rear end from a 94 Bravada . It is 4" wider than the stock 2wd S10 . That will allow me to do away with the spacers . I order new drums, brake shoes and spring kit . I degreased and remove rust and paint from the rear end . Got it in primer and paint . Order new 3" drop leaf springs . Cleaned them up and got them in primer and paint . Also got my wheels in and got my tires mounted . Here is some pics of my progress . ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I updated the parts list in the first post as of today . Last edited by Badd; 03-08-2016 at 08:38 PM. |

Small update, I got my new leaf springs in from Summit Racing . The one from The Suspension Source where the wrong ones . I cleaned up the new ones and got some primer and paint on them . I also replaced the shackle bushings in the frame . Then I worked on putting my front sway bar and new bushings on . My center caps and lug nuts also came in last week . Tomorrow I will work on the 2" frame C notch plates . ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I update the parts list in the first post again .
