So I've thinking for a while on how I can keep RCC in my life with crawlers being a smaller part of my life now days. I want to still be a part of this community where I've made so many good friends so I thought I'd give this a try. This will be a thread based on my 1:1 projects going on in the garage. To start it off I will begin with fixing my snowmobile. Last weekend I went headfirst into a tree at 40mph or so and smashed up the sled. I managed to walk away with just a limp. I bought this 2008 Ski-Doo 800 Summit X at the beginning of the year and this was only the second ride on it. Damage appears to be limited to the bumper and the lower nose plastic. Parts are in the mail so we will see if that's all there is or not. |

Thanks bud! No insurance. That's why I'm hoping a bumper and some plastic is all it takes to fix it. I rode it out and the motor and steering seemed ok. Insurance will be coming. My friend was scolding me for not having it yet.

Got the new nose cone in last night. I found that the 2009 50th anniversary Summit X came in yellow and the parts are the same otherwise. I think the yellow will really make the sled look better. I had ordered some nose teeth off of EBay and got them installed. I think it's gonna look sweet! |

Hey Chris it might be smart to rethink the RC thing, just saying? |

These modern sleds remind me more of a 2 stroke dirt bike for snow than anything else. I'm looking forward to the day I get to toss a leg over one and crank the throttle!

Agreed! This thing requires more rider input as far as weight transfer and body placement but it feels very similar to my dirt bike. I just need to get used to how much more input. I've always wanted one but didn't have friends dedicated to sledding so buying one to ride 2 times per year wasn't worth it. After a couple rides I couldn't be happier about buying one and I expect we will get 6 trips in this year. We have a 2 day trip planned to The Snowy Range in Wyo next month. The feeling of freedom is even more so than a dirt bike because you can just head off trail into the trees on a snowmobile. You are not limited to the trail like a dirt bike.

Finally got it back together! The skid plate bolt hidden under the exhaust was a bit tricky. I didn't plan on having to replace the rivets at the rear of the skid. Luckily the engine hoist was the right tool for the job. lol I love the look with the yellow nose much better. The shark teeth are inspired by the P40 Warhawk granddad flew in WWII and I love it!! I'll get better pics this weekend when I get it out again. Last edited by Grizzly4x4; 01-06-2016 at 11:53 AM. |

Headed up Friday for another ride at Grand Lake! Some pics from the last trip. My main goal is to not get stuck so much this time. |
