Jeep Problem... Hi all Jeep folks, just finished a semi-engine overhaul and when I tried to start it, the engine immediately went to 4000 rpm. Any guesses as to why this is happening? Thanks. |
Re: Jeep Problem... This was also a 2005 jeep 4.0L I6. |
Re: Jeep Problem... Either your throttle cable is stuck. Or, you did not get the manifold lined up correctly and have a massive un-metered vacuum leak. It is possible to not get the manifold all the way down on those engines because they share bolts with the exhaust manifold. I believe I had a friend do what you may have done and he had the intake manifold slightly off and it was not sealed to the cylinder head. And his revved to the moon on start up. |
Re: Jeep Problem... yup I was thinking vacuum leak. |
Re: Jeep Problem... Thanks guys, turns out that the manifold wasn't sitting correctly on one of the allignment stubs on the block and that cause the vacuum leak. |
