I can put my 4x4 exploder wherever I want in the snow. for damn sure. downshift steer in, counter steer slightly.. 4 wheel drift. cmon, takumi. lol if you want to get sideways with the family car, you might wanna just buy a rwd beater to beat up on for cheap.

I wouldn't risk the family car on a track day.

plus, you want to put an angle kit on whatever it is your getting rwd if you want to slide it.

plus the rs now has a e brake kit? or something to help it "drift"

you live near any desert? the sand is more fun imho.

That's the most sense I have seen this entire thread.
I should just get some sort of rwd missile. Accord sport 2.0t for daily. Manual so I dont die of boredom.

Hmm... Now what for missile???
Problem is I dont have room for another project with the 67 vette already taking the 3rd bay of the garage and no I'm not drifting that its my sons from my dad and its an original 427 with AC survivor.
MIGHT autox but drift probably not on purpose lol

* props to durok for putting the accord in my head. Been reading up on those. Not too bad!

**and yes we have tons of dirt. i live in east county san diego, everyone here has dune buggies, pre-runners and UTVs. its like an hour from ocotillo wells (San Diego's desert playground).
everyone says i need something for the dirt but i just don't have the room. maybe could park a toy hauler on my bricked-over pool. but where to put the toys? tow rig? my house is on less than a quarter acre so... im pretty limited by space.

you don't need a tow rig for a mild already built ranger that can still be driven on the street. ;) prerunners are all over craigslist around you. ive been tempted to fly there and drive one home these past few months.

but for the missile car, id go for a beamer. sikky has ls swaps. yuck, but cheap ls keeps the wallet happy.

Yup I looked into e30 with sikky swaps. Tempting.
318ti are cheap too.

As for a desert toy I dont think I would get a ranger. I was thinking excursion for camping and dirtbikes in like a weekend warrior type trailer.

But that's... Way down the road. Gotta figure out employment after I retire from the navy in 2020. Once all that is settled I can start thinking about desert toys, camping rigs, and LS swapped bimmers.

For now I think its between a civic Si or accord sport 2.0t
Oh and I looked up my current grand Cherokee rear legroom to get an idea for how much room is reasonable.
38 inches. So really a civic Si at 37 is not a deal breaker. Only 25k and manual. Only bummer is I think the accord 2.0t is actually quicker. But do I need to spend $5k for like .8 seconds faster 0-60? Doubtful... However the accord DOES have a whole 40 inches of rear legroom.

Huh. Might come down to a couple test drives.

If that is so then you didn't meet your requirements of this thread.

Hyundai Genesis G70 looks like an awesome option if you decided to go new...

We cant legally register skylines in CA.

And Jato yes you are correct to call me out on breaking my own rules, but if you read a couple before that cm9000 jad a great point. I think a civic Si would be great its only 1 inch less legroom than my current hand me down grand Cherokee!
So that might work as a daily amd maybe try to pick up a project missile e30, volvo 240, or maybe even a datsun 620 pickup??? 1975 and older would be best to avoid smog crap.

Maybe I should re name thread "what 75 and old drift missile project?"
Lol

**Oh and I already mentioned the genesis g70 earlier.
Its double the price of an frs and the same hp therefor slower than my frs. I would be pissed to spend that much to go that slow.

They're not the same kind of cars though so it's not an apples to apples comparison.

How exactly do I register a skyline in CA? I would love an r32 gts-t sedan!

And this volvo is perfect just cant swing $5k right now...
https://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/...725716459.html
So many goodies its mostly done. Just has a bit of rust.

**as for the g70... Jalopnik says it's good so it must be true right?
https://jalopnik.com/the-2019-genesi...-be-1830343875

I will say there is something correct about buying it even if only to support saving the manual with higher sale numbers.
But the price is... Ahgr... Just a smidge out of my budget. Maybe.
Imagine when they start popping up used in a few years. That's when I think it will see more of a following. Just like a tv show that's popular AFTER cancellation lol

stagea bro. iron mask wagon rather.

I now in MI anything older than 25 yrs old can be imported.

im actually keeping my eyes peeled for a 85-86 S12. there was one in KY on craugslist for 500 bucks, but it was in really bad shape/ missing crap. found a "notch" in FL. they still wanted as much as a r32 gts with an auto.

I only deal with older vehicles for myself. I will never buy new for myself. 2000 or older for me. speaking of which, you might wanna check around with different credit unions or banks to see how far back in years they will give loans for. I almost couldn't buy the fusion for the family.

You guys seem to forget how bad California sucks.
Everywhere else can get cars from wherever on earth they want.

Not here.
Prove me wrong. Please?!!

Haha the Lexus is awesome but I could never daily that with kids. You definitely understand my style though!

Bimmer is a nice cheap way to meet my needs until I find "the unicorn". 530i had a six cyl iirc. And even the v8 in the 540 that year was a slouch. Beggars cant be choosers, but... Yeah legroom on the e39 isnt so hot either. I have squeezed my twins in car seats in the back of worse. 98 Camaro, 94 240sx... By the time I got the frs they were in boosters and they dont need those anymore.
But now baby has to be rear facing until 2 years old.
Ughh... So complicated...

That civic Si has 37 inches of legroom and is only $25k... D2 springs and a set of wheels maybe a tune... Would be okay since my buddies at work pointed out I haven't gone tire shredding in quite a long time. Never even got to take the frs. So maybe honda FF is the quick fix I need for now.

I still have 7 months until the jeep lease is up. Plenty of time to go crazy trying to figure this out hahaha

4 months until bye-bye jerp…

and im at my wits ends with the 4 door car searching... i even started to consider a civic Si. massive rear legroom. and now they have a turbo. front wheel suck but at least its a manual. dampers have a comfort/sport button. yup on a civic! impressive.

but then i got really crazy this weekend...

i went at looked at 4 door F150's.

there were like 3 of them at a "used car" lot. yeah...
but it gives me a good idea of whats out there.
they had a 2010 with 60K on the clock. 4x4 XLT v8. $20k
2011 with 88k on the clock. also 4x4 XLT v8 with some bro-locks and mud tires. $22k
last one really caught my eye if only for the newer creature comforts.
2015 4x4 XLT v8 for $24k (also some bro-locks and procomp tires)
bad news: it has 105k on the clock.
took it for a test rip anyway.
me gusta.
maybe not THIS truck but i like the feel of it. i doubt i will find another 2015 4x4 XLT for this price but the miles are kinda high and bro mods make me hesitate.
if it was at an actual ford dealership with a great warranty i might have pulled the trigger on the spot.

oh and the wife is totally onboard with this. she loves the idea we could get a trailer and haul some toys.
she is sick of my "rice burners" lol
oh and i could tow the vette to track days with it too.

the search continues...

I went from a stream of small hatchbacks to completely changing courses and ending up in a 4 door Tacoma. Going completely away from what I though I wanted ended up getting me the first vehicle I have actually loved owning.

Maybe it is time to embrace the truck life.

ive been heavily eyeballing the jeep compass.. simply because its the last 4 door option with a stick and awd. no towability with it, but im keeping my eyes out for a idi ford for that.

I wouldn't give up on the 4dr stick rwd search.

im a ford guy but I really do not like the f-150's.. I drove a Silverado (2015) and it was way better than the ford imho. maybe look into the Silverado's? (I wish new trucks still had the basic manual option)
