Woohoo! New truck time!

You're probably not old enough to remember, but the early Chevelle's/Malibu's use to have a rubber knob on the end of a steel shaft for the auto trans on the steering columns. On my Mom's '73 Malibu, it loosened up and she lost it, and being in metal shop in high school, I turned her one, similar to the small one above, with a set screw in the side to hold it in place. Well, she worked as a typist/customer service for a company where her car sat in the sun most of the day. While she did appreciated something made from her son, she did not appreciate grabbing onto a hot knob( hold your jokes), at the end of the day, so she knitted a cover for it to protect her hand.

Just something to think about if your truck is out in the sun a lot.

My first car was a '68 Pontiac, so yeah, I remember.

Hot knobs are a concern, but I don't think it'll be too much of a problem. If it is, I'll throw my hat over it.

Toyota makes great vehicles, had nothing but good luck with the 9 or 10 ive owned over the years. Our 08 sequoia has about 77k on it now, runs like new. Loved my 06 Avalon touring, and now love my 14 hybrid touring. Corolla was the bomb too, and it sold within 5 minutes of putting it on a lot. My 93 pickup wont get started but twice a year and passed emissions every time. I love all of them except that Prius I had for about 6 months. Yeah eff that! Toyota does use sub par metal in their rotors for trucks, so you may need to spend the $ on aftermarket. You're past 50k where their water pumps give up. Those are the only issues we ever had, all covered under warranty other than rotors

yeah i might be looking at trucks now too.
FJ is neato and i love Toyota dependability. Tacos are nice too.
also considering the 4 door F150 (more gooder at pulling stuff).
all used, for i have not deep pockets for new lol

Dude i had a lol when you said the manual for your (very awesome, btw!) 4 runner was thicker than your local phone book. i instantly thought oh man like 2 or 3 inches thick! then i looked at your location

also on the shift knob thing... yeah i had a weighted metal ball shifter in my AE86. HOT.
i had a Delrin knob in my 240sx. MUCH better.
i think now they make weighted Delrin knobs too.

sick 4 runner. and the PARTY MODE button is GOLD! man i miss having a tiyoti...

I forget whether my phone book covers the whole county or just the local area. Either way...

If I can figure out the thread for the current knob I'll cut a delrin version too. If I can't, I'll cut a delrin cover.

The shifter is made from a hydraulic cylinder and piston. They thread together, and I'm not sure what pitch that is

i got one out here that is amazing (pell-mell in national city).

or manufacturer specs on the piston/cylinder?
