not sure what you mean? Body on frame isn't a compromise by any stretch of the imagination I don't think. If you rule that out you are crossing some of the most capable 4x4s off the list I think. Class C should be able to handle pretty much any rig you could reasonably plan on towing to the rocks.

those cheap cherokees are $500 all day long up north in the bay area my old neighbors bought 2 of them one needed a new panhard bar and had a oil leak in the transfercase the replacement dident need anything other than tires my old roo was taken off the road because of the unibody issue suspention mounting points are being relocated cause they were ripped off the body but that was after 5 years of torture to a car that spent a good portion of its life in the rust belt welding skills are a must with a unibody i wouldent pass up a good deal because its a unibody everything is fixable and on the xj most upgrades bolt on anyway Last edited by ferp420; 03-15-2021 at 08:04 AM. |

| Re: Help me pick a trail rig that isn't a jeep lol To quote a dear friend of mine All I meant was that Body on Frame tend to be heavy, comparatively speaking, and OP has already stated weight is a consideration. Because of towing. Alternativel unibodies tend to be appreciably lighter and can be just as capable. |

The stock 92 for $4700 sold the next morning lol and yes they go for that much in socal. Clean ones with less than 100k on the odo usually go for about $10k. As for body on frame, I'm not opposed, but would hope its under 5,000 lbs. Dont want to strain the class C much. Should be listing my 32ft travel trailer tomorrow. Once it sells, things will escalate VERY quickly! |

How do you feel about ZJs? They're way more comfortable and imo capable than an XJ, more power, more easily attainable and they look great. I've had 3 or 4 over the years and with a V8 they're a pretty stout truck.

| Re: Help me pick a trail rig that isn't a jeep lol I remember something about aluminum center section dana 44’s used in the V8 trucks. Apparently they don’t have much aftermarket support for gears or lockers, just an FYI.

Oh yeah I looked into ZJs a couple years ago. Not super opposed that either. Except, yes, I do remember something about aluminum axles but I'm sure I can get around that somehow. And I heard it only affected certain ones. Might be a wide swaith but there are ways to tell which are which. Good suggestion! |

Honestly after an NP205 and addressing some universally sloppy factory steering links, it's hard to beat a ZJ, they're a blast on and off road.

Ummm... You know the plan is to tow this behind a 30ft class c, right? No need for an offroad tour bus. Points for thinking outside the box though? |

if you load 10 kids in that thing a bunch of a€!d and weed and beer you would be surprised the places you find your self when the sun comes up i wouldent beat the one i have now all the rust would fall off lol why not pick up a big side by side you cant flat tow them but they would be hard to beat on the trail and seating for 6 you could even take a freind maybe a furry freind lol if you look hard enuff you could find one already street legal there not cheap but you can make payments lol and by the time you build up a rig you will be cloze to the cost of a new polaris ranger 6 seater anyway Last edited by ferp420; 03-18-2021 at 08:05 AM.

I stopped reading after "10 kids acid and weed". Hard to follow advice from anyone making those combinations. |

Anyway back on track... Made an offer on a CLEAN manual 95 xj near me. Bone stock, garaged, maintained. Second owner bought it back in 98. Waiting to hear back. Thing is seriously clean enough eat off of. |
