Haha! An AMC Eagle! My aunt and uncle bought one brand new when I was a kid. It later burned to the ground for some unknown reason. My grandfather used to be a mechanic at an AMC garage so it just so happened there were a few AMCs in my family. We even had a Hornet! Anyway, very nice work on the body. |

Thread necromancy, anyone? Decided to get this thing running properly. Installed a Rooster Crawler (may or may not go with a gear reduction, it's never really going to be a true crawler and the wheelspeed makes for some fun trail runs), cut up some Dir Grabbers and installed a driver with red LED eyes). Plain old Grabbers now Driver is a Hawk Weird-Oh's figure. |

Hell, I've already done a Gurgel Itaipu Eletrico: Doesn't get a whole lot weirder than that. |

Took the little beastie for a spin on the rockpile, and yeah, it's still an XC. Meaning it's geared way too high and has almost no low-speed control. So I thought I'd try something: Replaced the motor with a GWS Speed300, geared at 5.5:1. Now it's got a very smooth bottom end, and surprisingly didn't lose much in the way of top speed. It's more like a fast crawler than a touring car anyway. How I done it: I found a torque sleeve off a Titan 550, chopped it a bit, slid the gearbox inside and braced it in place with styrene brackets. The Tamiya pinion slides right onto the GWS 3mm output shaft. Glued an old spur gear to the front and shaved it down to the proper OD, then fudged it into position so the gears would mesh. Much more crawly now. I like |

A little more fun with the Eagle today: Just wouldn't be a scaler without a mismatched fender, would it? Speaking of Fenders: It's a novelty cigarette lighter I picked up at a truck stop. License plate seems appropriate |
