so it warmed up to 50* today so I decided to try to get some paint on the XJ....when I went to grab the OD something came over me and I picked up a different color.... Yep...pooh brown, just like my yota clone... Plans are to flat black the hood, lower portion of the doors like my other XJ and I am thinking of doing the back hatch as well |

I went to work on the XJ last week and when I went to pick up the body I saw this... Needless to say I wasnt happy I never washed the body before I started paint work. So I am thinking there may have been some mold release agent or something in by the roof molding, since that was the only area that lifted like that. I attempted to wet sand but the roof molding proved to be difficult to sand around and was becoming extremely time consuming. SO into the Castrol Super Clean it went. It soaked for a couple of days and got it back down to bare fiberglass. I started the repaint this weekend, and finished it today at work on my lunch break. I thought the brown peeling up was a sign that I should stick with my original paint scheme. Now its OD green and flat black hood like I originally wanted it. I plan on trying to work on it more this week, I already scraped the paint from where the windows glue in so I will probably work on that next. Thanks for looking -Mike Last edited by 1BadJeepBruiser; 02-17-2009 at 06:56 PM. |

Words can't describe the quality of scaleoffroad's products. I really like the new paint, and am looking forward to some more progress. Last edited by dirk379; 02-17-2009 at 10:17 PM. |
