Coming along nicely. Great job on the mirrors and wipers, and you know I love the rust.....

that looks fantastic. great job on the body.
the flatirons will look too big on that body though, IMO. best to use 1.5 wheels and reduced flatirons...that would look trick. the overall height is just smaller than 1.9 mudslingers.

Reminds me of the old farmers you'd see on old horror films.

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner! It's Old Monty from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. He's from McFarlane's Movie Maniacs 7 collection. I didn't even have to cut his legs off to fit him in the truck since he doesn't have lower legs.

What a great thread. It shows some imagination and work made a very common body look great.

I sure wish there were more details on the weathering, particularly on the hood. Did you just lightly apply some rust type of paint to get that pattern ?

Thanks for all the great comments. It was a little ambitious for a first build but I had a lot of fun and learned a lot. I'm already thinking about future projects.

The weathering on the hood was done using Testor's Rust enamel diluted slightly with thinner. I would recommend that you try a test piece with the same base coat as your body before attacking your prize paint job and be sure your base coat is thoroughly cured before applying any thinner. I alternately dabbed the paint wash on with the frayed ends of a paper towel in a random pattern and then dabbed with another paper towel moistened with thinner. I did this about eight or nine times until I was happy with the tint and pattern. The thinner moistened paper towel actually removes some of the paint you just applied. It takes a little practice to figure out which direction to "pull" the paint but it is easy to make corrections on the fly.
