| Suburban Finally
I'm loving the clodbuster body. Mainly because i own an 80's Chevy. Except it's a suburban. Here it is: Guess it would look more like this if i can build a scaler to resemble it : You guessed it, i'm gonna try to build a suburban that looks like my own. Just a bit taller and larger tyres probably. A brand new body came in last week, and i couldn't resist a dry fit: This body 'll be the front of the Burb. Offcourse the 4x4x4 logo had to go: Since i don't have the second body yet I thought i'd fill al the stuff i don't want: I filled it so crappy that i was sanding for a very long time this evening, but hey, it worked out okay. First inspector came to inspect my work And then the second inspector took a real close look, to see if my work was okay... He just looked at me and walked away disapointed... Anyway, this is going to be a very slow build but i thought i'd show my progress (or lack of) here. This 'll be my first try at chopping and forming a body by the way, so any tips and tricks are welcome Thanks for looking. Last edited by VanDongen; 04-07-2013 at 01:14 PM. |

suburbans are cool builds. There have been one or two before and they never disappoint. This should be good.

Those two trucks look out of place next all those hatches. nice start btw. how come you don't have a long rectanular yellow tag like the other cars have? |

Wow you're sharp! The suburban has a old license plate. With cars of a certain age, you can get the old fashion license plates when you import it. That's what the previous owner did. I like it, nice and different. And indeed, the full size chevy's are not very common here in the Netherlands. Nor are parking spaces they fit on But these at my work are okay.

Cool, thanks for showing that. Sits pretty good on a high-lift chassis too. Nice. Did you need to change the wheelbase? Yes, for the sub, you need the extra cab, but also the overhang behind the wheel needs to be longer as wel. We'll see how it turns out. |

You are very much Welcome, and Thank you for the kind words. The wheelbase is 9 3\4 inch's from axle to axle. Its almost the same as the Tamiya Pajero now. I thought there was more overhang on a suburban, I may have too much on my blazer, but Im going to leave it as is, I think its close enough.

The finish on the hood seemed okay, but it was (as expected) nowhere near smooth when i sprayed it in one colour. So after the second try, it looked like this: Still not perfect, but i''ll keep it like this at least until i cut it up. These came in today from spain: Looks excellent. It's some sort of rubber and stays elastic. And they're larger than the actual wheel wells on the clodbuster body, so i can cut the wheelwells larger and put these fenderflares in. These flares even fit over my 1.9 flatirons! Excellent stuff by SDI in spain. Last edited by VanDongen; 07-17-2009 at 03:40 PM. Reason: I typed "look sexcellent" in stead of "looks excellent"... |

Oooh, almost forgot! NOT Christmas came early this year: Oh, and in case it wasn't clear yet, our cats are a little curious and crazy about cardboard boxes And believe it or not, he turned around in the box, without getting out of it!! |
