what shock shafts did you use?

Man that thing looks so sweet! I am building one very similar to yours and I just recently stumbled acorss this thread. The video is sweet. Very capable set up man!
What trans cross member is that? I have the stock axial on a Xtrail chassis and I plan to run the trans from a cordless drill, to a fabricated 1:1 transfercase. I have a feeling that dropped cross member will help alot when I get that far.
Again..... Awesome rig!

Thanks! The rig is based on an SCX10. I believe early in the thread I show how I moved the trans/skid plate forward. If not, I can post up more pics.

Sounds like you have a dot-matrix printer inside your Jeep trying to get out.

You are nuts doing Moab with no other rigs around. You have some big cajones .

Your videos are great. Nice rigs!

There is the missing key..... I wasn't aware the SCX10 had a dropped cross member. So I take it that's a standard piece. Ill be sure to read through again. As most do, I get hung up on the pics more than the words. I too thought it was mentioned but I perused real quick and didn't realize it was standard equipment on the SCX.
great man. Im subscribed!

Yeah, that servo is the culprit, I think. Pretty annoying, but it was cheap and is strong as h3ll so I tolerate it.

We were pretty careful in Moab for just that reason. We borrowed a winch, I packed tools, CO2, spare axles, etc. And we wheeled pretty conservatively. So I would say it was a calculated risk. Hope to make it there again this year for Easter Jeep Safari. No shortage of rigs then! ;)

Yep, it's all standard/stock parts, I just relocated the skidplate (with trans/motor) farther forward to help me shorten the wheelbase to where I wanted it (~10.5") and then lopped 2" off the back of the frame. Pretty straightfoward, really.

Hey Tommy, here is the start on my Newbright TJ. Very similar to your build. Suspension ended up nearly the same.
New Bright TJ no more!

Are those the SCX 10 shocks as well? Im having a flex issue because my shocks have too little travel. I have plenty of room for more flex, but the shocks bottom out and limit the travel under compresion and extension. I have the RC4X4 90mm white ones. I like the look but may ditch em for something more usable. You have twice the flex on yours than I do.

Yes sir, those are SCX10 shocks. However, I installed longer piston rods from a Wheelie King shock to give more droop travel. Incidentally, my rig is about 90% droop with very little bump travel, if any. For your application, it sounds like you should raise the top mount of the shocks, which will help you stuff the tires farther into the fenders (and lower your ride height), but ultimately, you'll likely need longer shocks.....unless you find a way to mount them at an angle to gain more travel.

You did a great fob with this build I like that you built it to look as much like your own 1 to 1.

Thanks very much! It's what my 1:1 will be when it grows up a little more.
