| Lr3 + ta-02
After seeing a bunch of LR3 builds including a few with IFS/IRS, I decided to do a replica of my 1:1 including some wishful mods that are much cheaper to do in 1/10th scale. So the plan here is to mate the TA-02 front and rear from a Tamiya F-150 donor kit with a Rastar 1/10th LR3. I also want to use a frame-so an Axial frame is the contender.

The Tamiya kit is pretty neat-I hated to part it up but it has been sitting in my attic for years-it's about time I put it to use. Trying out these 1.5 Mud Thrashers and the RC4WD Classic 5 Lugs. Let me know what you guys think.

I had a TA-02 that I was going to do something similar to, but I was looking at the rear gearbox thinking that I should just get a front gearbox and gears to lose some of the unnecessary bulk back there. The other hard part was trying to find a way to mate the input cups to an axial transmission. I ended up selling the TA-02 and getting some HPI parts to do my build. (More readily available spares) Interested to see how this turns out! |

They are a hard body with opening doors and hood. Really nice proportions as well vs the New Bright bodies which are a little short in the hood and smaller in general. They are on eBay everyday. Make sure the scale is 1/10 as they sell other scales. A lot of the vendors do not offer color selection so if you have a preference-make sure to request. | |

The mockup looks really good. Curious to see how this one goes together.

Rear suspension mounted. I needed to use wider cross members to get clearance for the differentials. I will still need to make room for whatever u-joints I use on the drive shafts. I also added some body mounts-BTW-if anyone is interested, the metal "wings" from molly bolts make great body and suspension mounts w/o a lot of fabrication. Frame tucks in nicely after removing minimal material from the floor pan-

Front diff in place. I reversed the front A-arms so I could move the shocks to the rear and the tie rod in front of the axle. Got the stance I wanted-now need to fit rest of the drive train. It may look a little rough right now but I will trim down the Tamiya parts and beef everything up after I fit the rest of the drive train.

Hi, this is a fantastic idea. Is the motor on top of the gearbox? |

Damn im liking this! How wide is the track of that IFS/IRS that your using? Is it locked or are you going to lock it? I have a front and rear from an HPI nitro RS3 but i think its a tad too wide.

| Thanks! Not locked but leaving the option open based on how well everything else goes together. Too be honest-I never measured since I had the parts on hand to match up. I am at work otherwise I would measure for you. If you look at my work surface, the grid is in 1" increments. The wheel width works out to around 8 1/2".

Wow, i need to pick up a Rastar lr3 body then. My sons newbright lr3 is a bit on the narrow side. Oh well it works great with the cc-01 chassis since its track is narrow. When i had the body on my scx10 chassis it looked like a mini trucker with the wheels sticking waaay out! Cant wait to see whats next.
