Great looking dropped bed Noob the thermoforming really captures a lot of detail. Nice "welds" too. Are you trying for opening doors? Or tube doors? Subbed. This looks like it's gonna be good... Last edited by Big Mike; 11-02-2010 at 12:04 PM. |

Thank you. Can't beat the detail, especially since it works on both sides. Gives it that perfect stamped sheet metal look. I intend on forming metal doors, fenders and possibly a hood. It will more or less be a hybrid metal/styrene body. Some things to smash up, but plenty of plastic to keep it strong.

I'm still waiting on some parts to come in, but here's a little update. My attempt at aluminum body panels Some more detailing on the bed Finished the scratches on the inside of the bed. Now to start on the outside. Trust me, it won't be anything too gnarly. Busted out the vacuum former again to make an interior. I had a resin reproduction interior, but it was pretty heavy and doesn't mix well with styrene. This should give a better base for customization.

| Folks have been simulating welds in the RC tanking world for years. This stuff is an easy way to make it happen: http://www.milliput.com/home.htm I've also seen it spread thin over a wide area of styrene and then finished w/ a wet sponge. Makes smooth styrene look like rough-cast steel Why the embarrassed face? That doesn't look bad at all. It's just missing the window trim, it shouldn't be hard to add that. Did I see that interior being used in someone else's build on here somewhere? That looks like it weighs close to nothing, and it takes care of the hardest parts of making an interior in one shot. A few guage bezels made of styrene tube, some styrene rod and sheet for buttons/knobs and panels, a wheel and a shift lever, and paint it up. How can I aquire one of those? |

how thick of aluminum is the door made of? did you form it over the actual door cut from the kit or make your own 'backer' for lack of a better word, to form it over? looks rad though! this thing is gonna be killer! |

Thanks. It's .007 thick. I formed it right over the door I cut out. It worked pretty well in that regard.

Weathering came out nice, looks like something dug out from the woods of New England. |

Slowest build ever! Sorry to the folks(if any) that are waiting for updates. Early stages of the rusting procedure, pay no attention. Needs rear shocks among other things.

Looks great, I knew the FXR was supposed to be a small ESC, I just didn't know it was that tiny lol. What axles are you using, OG's or RC4WD yota's?

| I was surprised on how small the fxr was too. Hopefully I'll be able to fit all my electronics under the hood. I'm using the OG axles

Interior of sorts. I'm trying to make it as close to the real truck as possible, but the chassis had different plans for me. The floor still needs a lot of work, but it's a start. |
