Got some good news and some bad news. The good news is I finally have a rolling chassis.

I'm using shocks from a touring car so I don't have to cut the bed. Springs are HPI titaniums, which are quite soft. The travel is quite limited in the rear, but the overall articulation is still pretty good. Otherwise, the rear suspension is a typical 4 link utilizing a R2J four link mount that I won(!) in a Scale Comp in San Antonio back in December. Thanks, R2J!! You can also see the slipper has been removed, which allowed the body to be moved forward like I'd hoped.

The front is a pretty typical Hand Bros 3 link/track bar setup, but I spent a lot of time with various linkage geometry and clearancing parts to ensure there's no binding or interference anywhere.

Here's the bad news. A stock SCX10 is supposed to be 11.4", which is perfect for a Hilux. Well, my wheelbase is nearly 12" and I'm not really sure why! I'm using the stock SCX10 skidplate for the lower mounting points. I'm using the same length lower links as a standard SCX10 (91mm). And I'm using standard endlinks. Not really sure why my wheelbase is 1/2" too long?

You are using non Axial endlinks which are a hair longer.
So you are 4 hairs longer since there is one at each end of each link.

Good point, P! I forgot I'm using some Traxxas endlinks. I know they're longer, but didn't think it would add up to much, but as you said, "not much" four times ends up not being a little amount anymore! I think tonight I'll make up some new links from sleeved 8-32 all-thread like I did for the Bronco. Thanks for the sanity check!

It's pretty common in the 1:1 Toyota world to have the front axle pushed forward in the wheelwells....keeps the tire from stuffing into the firewall during articulation....but then thats with leafs as the axle moves back when they're compressed.
So center yer rear tires and if the front is a "little" pushed forward.....no biggie.

Looks pretty cool so far.....
Maybe I'll keep my Class 1 project and finish it.....after seeing this, makes me wanna keep after it.

For rear shocks, I'm running threaded body Losi .9's with the tops mounted further foward on the frame. Could give you more travel if you're in need.

I definitely plan to keep the rear tires centered in the fender opening. The front may stretch forward just a bit, but I'm trying to keep as much of the fenders as possible, so I won't be able to stretch it much. As it is now, it's likely too stretched to be legal in Class 1!

I'll probably end up cutting off the bottom 1/2"-1" of the front fascia. It's complicated to explain, but I want a chassis mounted winch/fairlead and I don't want it hanging crazy low below the body.

Skid, do you mean Losi 1.9's? I've actually got some and would love to use them, but would prefer to stick with 3mm hardware to mount them.

No, .9's off the front of a xxxt I believe. Just like the 4" ones on a comp crawler(1.2), but shorter.

After looking up parts on amain, the bodys are .9", and the shafts are 1.0" Have to piece them together though, $$$$$$

$22 for a pair of threaded bodies LOSA5055
$16 for pair of shafts LOSA5064

+ cartriges, pistions, spring cups, Little more than I realized.

Really?? Like these? They're for an XXX-SCT. Not sure if they're any different, though.

That would work, the one's I used had threaded bodies and "titanium nitrated" shaft.

I was playing with Losi white springs off a comp crawler, but the are a little long and tad stiff. I plan on trying some gray or gold ones, cut down if needed.

I may look for a set of plain ol' stock shocks (like I posted earlier, perhaps) and then get the aluminum bodies if they work as well as I hope. Then hopefully I'd have all I need w/o having to piece it all together!

I also found these. Look like XXX-T shocks according to the description.

Thats exactly what I'm running. All the stuff interchanges with the xxx-sct ones. I always forget about ebay. The shafts are a 5/40 thread which I've had luck using different 3mm rod ends with the axial ball to fit better width wise between the axial housing tabs.

Thanks, skid! Yeah, I think those shocks will work very well for me. Thanks for the tip!

Tonight I fabbed up some new lower links with 8-32 all-thread sleeved in aluminum. Wheelbase is just right now....although the camera angle may have been off a bit.

Now I'll just need to polish those links to a mirror finish before Nationals!

OH! Sorry, I misunderstood. I've seen them on Tower and TCS, but I bought mine through ebay.
