| Building a scale Axial SCX-10 Comanche. What motor and esc best to use?
Hey everybody! I am building my first crawler. So far its pretty basic. Based on a scx10 wit custom 4 link suspension, comanche body with proline floor pan and interior. For wheels i decide to use rc4wd stamped steel 1.55 wheels and MT Baja Claw tires. I do have a question. Right now the crawler has a traxas xl15 speed control and stock axial motor, i think its 27 turn. I am looking to get something a little smoother and have a little more wheel speed. I like the smoothness of brushless systems but have no idea what will work best. I don't want to spend a ton of money on a new system and will probably go with a used. So far i figured that going with sensorless motor is pretty much waste of time. So what would you guys recommend? What would be a good piece together system? Thanks! |

You can pick up a Sidewinder for cheap in the for sale section. Just have to post more or purchase a star! Sidewinders go for about $40 used if in great shape. You're going to want to run at least 2s or 3s which the Sidewinder can handle easily. With the Castlelink you can setup their crawler drag brake. Then with the motor I'd suggest looking into a handwound brushed...Holmes and Brood make awesome motors! If you want to go the brushless route picking up a used MMP then get a sensored brushless motor and you're all set. Again you'd need a Castlelink to setup drag brake. Also depending on what servo you plan on running a CC BEC is not a bad idea either. Cheapest alternative for sensored brushless would be something from Hobbypartz.com look at least 17.5T and up. Depending on if you like a bit of wheel speed 17.5 is fine on a lightweight rig. 21.5 is what most run on comp rigs. |

Awesome! Thank you. I will post some pics later today or tomorrow. After some searching i found out that sidewider is for sure the best way to go for the money. I just need to figure out how to waterproof it the best way, any suggestions? As for a motor i will most likely go with brushed motor. So 21.5T is the best? My rig is pretty light. I plan to run a 2s 2400 and maybe a 2s 4400. So lower turn motor is better for speed and higher turn is better for crawling? Thanks again! |

Looks like a nice start. Personally I would lower the beast down just a bit. The wheel/tire combo are nice |

I just installed a set of 1.55 steel wheels with Baja claw and I think the look a bit too big.

Here is how it sits now. I got a sidewinder hooked up to stock motor. The truck is much faster now but can still crawl really slow. Perfect combination. Do you guys have any suggestion for wheel weights? I can't seem to find any good solution for stamped steel wheels. I was thinking maybe stick on automotive wheel weights. Stick them on the inside of the wheels? |

Thats a good option with those wheels, just wrap the outside of the ring that seats the bead 2 or 3 times with the stick on weights. Can we get a sideshot?

Looks like you need to push the front out 1/4"-3/8" and the rear out 1/2"-5/8"

Looking good, I used pitbulls on mine with stock axial bead locks. I think it looks just right. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. Awesome |

Just search for scale drivers, there is a list somewhere. And I mean search here, not google |
