Re: 55' willys pickup ( body built by pardonmyn00b) Do you mean hard body resin. |
Re: 55' willys pickup ( body built by pardonmyn00b) he made the mold, and casted it with smooth-cast resin. |
Re: 55' willys pickup ( body built by pardonmyn00b) Sweet, but you got to finish MY willys first ;-) |
Re: 55' willys pickup ( body built by pardonmyn00b) don't worry, ill finish the willys first, then ill move on to the dodge. |
Re: 55' willys pickup ( body built by pardonmyn00b) Ok, so I finally have an update for you guys. The flatbed is 95% done, I still need to make the removable sides, and a mount on the back for a pintle hitch, of course I remembered that AFTER I painted it  the flatbed consists of 1/4" square brass stock for the frame, 1/8" C-channel for the supports, 3/16"x3/8" balsa for the planks, 3/8" styrene angle to cap everything off, and 120 pins to mimic the screws  what a pain that was, but i like the look. The bed is just placed on the chassis for the pics, so it may be alittle un-level. I made a truss to mount the shocks in-board so i didnt need to cut holes in the bed for the shocks to stick through. I think I may leave the wood as is, and just have it wheather natually, i kind of like it.( don't mind the overspray on the wood, it has since been sanded off) http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...8/flatbed9.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q.../flatbed10.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...8/flatbed8.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...08/flatbed.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...8/flatbed5.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...8/flatbed2.jpg Heres a shot of the truss, keep in mind everything is in mockup,, it will be painted black and the screws with have nuts on them, http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...8/flatbed6.jpg And here is a shot of the mounts, 2 per side, where 1/8"x1/4" rectangle will slide into, for the sides, so they will be removable, http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...8/flatbed7.jpg Thats it for now, let me know what you think "thumbsup" |
Re: 55' willys pickup ( body built by pardonmyn00b) I love it "thumbsup" I cant believe how good its looks. How long did it take you to put all those pins in. |
Re: 55' willys pickup ( body built by pardonmyn00b) Thanks "thumbsup" it really didnt take me that long, since the balsa is so soft, I simply just pushed them through. Though, my finger is still sore lol. The longest part was cutting the excess off the underside of the planks, without stabbing myself multiple times :ror: |
Re: 55' willys pickup ( body built by pardonmyn00b) Thats coming along nice, looks great! You forgot your phone number on the for sale sign, who do I make the check out to? I'd like to get my hands of one of those dodge bodies too, NOOB shut my down on building another willys. |
Re: 55' willys pickup ( body built by pardonmyn00b) Thanks, I couldn't fit my number on there Lol. |

Re: 55' willys pickup ( body built by pardonmyn00b) Do you have any taillights pick out yet? |
Re: 55' willys pickup ( body built by pardonmyn00b) funny you said that, I was just thinking about adding some brass on either side of the hitch mount, and putting axial tail lights in there... looks like im breaking out the torch and brass again tonight Lol. I just need the taillights |
