Re: 55' willys pickup ( body built by pardonmyn00b)

Ok, so I finally have an update for you guys. The flatbed is 95% done, I still need to make the removable sides, and a mount on the back for a pintle hitch, of course I remembered that AFTER I painted it  the flatbed consists of 1/4" square brass stock for the frame, 1/8" C-channel for the supports, 3/16"x3/8" balsa for the planks, 3/8" styrene angle to cap everything off, and 120 pins to mimic the screws  what a pain that was, but i like the look.

The bed is just placed on the chassis for the pics, so it may be alittle un-level.

I made a truss to mount the shocks in-board so i didnt need to cut holes in the bed for the shocks to stick through.

I think I may leave the wood as is, and just have it wheather natually, i kind of like it.( don't mind the overspray on the wood, it has since been sanded off)

Heres a shot of the truss, keep in mind everything is in mockup,, it will be painted black and the screws with have nuts on them,

And here is a shot of the mounts, 2 per side, where 1/8"x1/4" rectangle will slide into, for the sides, so they will be removable,

Thats it for now, let me know what you think "thumbsup"

I love it "thumbsup" I cant believe how good its looks. How long did it take you to put all those pins in.

Re: 55' willys pickup ( body built by pardonmyn00b)

Thanks "thumbsup" it really didnt take me that long, since the balsa is so soft, I simply just pushed them through. Though, my finger is still sore lol. The longest part was cutting the excess off the underside of the planks, without stabbing myself multiple times :ror:

Worked on the flatbed alittle today, got the hitch mount and headache rack done, just need a pintle hook to complete it, and primer/paint.
