55' willys pickup ( body built by pardonmyn00b) Heres my some-what build thread on this rig. its more to just document my progress then an actual build thread. I got this body back in sept. and it sat for a few months while I was debating on what to do with it, then i saw mattstangs roller for sale and jumped on it, as it will be a great base for this rig. Currently I have most of the interior done, still needs to be painted and detailed, and the front bumper is almost done. Interior took the most time, i got the bumper done in an hour or so. its 1/2" angle and 1/8" plate. plenty of room for winch mounting( hopefully an MSD quicksand) http://www.eparccrawlers.com/forums/...on_twisted.gif . Got my servo mount done, just haven't taken any pics of that yet. I plan on doing a flatbed, i'll get that done when all the body work is complete. Keep in mind, everything is in primer, this is not the final color. I'm thinking a beige/white combo. But nothing is set in stone. Currently has yota axles, killer T-case, MIP driveshafts. running gear will most likely be a Hitec 645 MG servo, sidewinder esc, 3s lipo( if i can fit one) and some type of trans, need something small enough, and i haven't found one yet. Anyway, enough with my yapping, heres some pics, http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...llysbuild6.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...llysbuild4.jpg Bumper, http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...llysbuild3.jpg Interior, like i said, its not done, still needs alot of work, http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...illysbuild.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...llysbuild2.jpg Any comments or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks |
Re: 55' willys( body built by pardonmyn00b) Thanks, heres another pic of my micro willys next to his big brother :)( this was before i primed and did body work on the 1/10th scale willys) http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...owillys5-1.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...owillys3-1.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...rowillys-1.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...owillys4-1.jpg |
Re: 55' willys( body built by pardonmyn00b) small update, built the servo mount today, real simple, just a couple of peices of 1/8" plate welded together. works good. sorry for the crappy cell phone pictures, ill take better ones when I get my camera back, (servo is for mock-up purposes only) http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...ysbuild2-1.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...lysbuild-1.jpg |
Re: 55' willys( body built by pardonmyn00b) did some work on the interior, added carpet, i've also made a bench seat, with memory foam cushions wrapped in 100% genuine cow hide leather:shock: pics of that soon. heres a pic of the sloor pan with carpet, http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...tinterior3.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...etinterior.jpg |
Re: 55' willys( body built by pardonmyn00b) Heres a few pictures of the seat, memory foam cushions, wrapped in leather. note, the seat is just mocked up for pics, and its not done, seams still need to be finished, and i might hit it with the airbrush to give it a more uniform color. http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...benchseat3.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...benchseat2.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...benchseat4.jpg |
Re: 55' willys( body built by pardonmyn00b) oh, i didnt have a place to put the seat base down to primer it, so i held it in my hand, which is why i look dead Lol |
Re: 55' willys pickup ( body built by pardonmyn00b) UPDATE Body and interior are FINISHED! Sorry for the Horrible pics, I couldn't get the camera to take pics of the interior so i had to use flash, which screwed the pics up, but hey, there better than nothing Lol I made windows from .015 clear styrene, the drive's side doesnt have a window, and the windshield is removable, http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...shedwillys.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q.../finished3.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...hedwillys4.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...hedwillys2.jpg |

Re: 55' willys pickup ( body built by pardonmyn00b) small update, painted the bumper and servo mount black, also put the body on real quick to see how she fits, keep in mind the back of the body is goin to be raised another 3/16" or so to level the cab out, still waiting on my screws for the beadlocks to i can get the tires mounted, only been a month  sorry for the low quality pics, ill get better ones soon, and hopefully with wheels on the rig :lmao: also built fender wells, havent installed those yet though. http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...tedbumper4.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...tedbumper3.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...ntedbumper.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...tedbumper2.jpg |
Re: 55' willys pickup ( body built by pardonmyn00b) Geez, 2nd page already? damn i'm slow :ror: Anyway, Not much has happened since the last update, made some simple fender wells, screws finally arrived, so got the tires and wheels mounted, so finally, shes a roller I guess. Also cut every other lug out of the slingers, and mounted the wheels "backwards" so there more of a "deep dish" style rim, I like them. Here are some poser shots, http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...lysupdate4.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...lysupdate3.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...ysupdate12.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...lysupdate5.jpg Here's a pic of the "deep dish" style, kind of hard to see, http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...lysupdate9.jpg And heres a shot of the fender wells, real simple, http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...lysupdate7.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...lysupdate8.jpg |

Re: 55' willys pickup ( body built by pardonmyn00b) Thanks. |
Re: 55' willys pickup ( body built by pardonmyn00b) whipped up a fuel cell today, still need to add the filler tube and cap, but i can't do that untill I build the flatbed, dont mind the red paint of the silver mounting straps, that has since been touched up. painted it testors silver chrome first, then a few coats of testors flat red, than i sanded some spots with 120 grit and 400 grit sandpaper, so some of the silver comes through, making it look alittle worn. I will get beyyer pictures tomorrow, http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...8/fuelcell.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q.../fuelcell2.jpg |

Re: 55' willys pickup ( body built by pardonmyn00b) Ok, update time, My diamond plate styrene finally came today so i was able to finish the "secret project". So, i needed something to put my battery in, but I didnt want the common tool box in the bed of the truck. So, i was thinking, and it hit me, I should make a *******! (i blocked it out so you can't see what it is, you have to guess  it should be fairly easy to figure out. It goes with the theme of this build... it holds my battery, and something else.... http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...etproject4.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...etproject5.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...etproject6.jpg http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/q...etproject2.jpg first person to get it right gets an internet beer 8) |

Re: 55' willys pickup ( body built by pardonmyn00b) Looks like you have a willys thing too lol, I've been looking at 1:1 willys pickups, price wise they're not bad. would be cool owning a 1:1, 1/10 and a micro of the same truck Lol |
