I took a step away from scale building to work on vintage motorcycles. I have recently caught the virus again and immediately jumped on a new build. I am going for something you could see crawling around my neck of the woods. Current parts list: -newbright tj body -mrc pro axles, shocks, tranny -losi mrc aluminum C's and Knucks -Custom frame and cage work This is where im at. ![]() ![]() ![]() Everything is still in raw form with LOTS of work left to do. Please feel free to comment or to lend direction! Last edited by Bananaclip; 01-30-2012 at 02:07 PM. |

Guys, in the pics above i am mocked up at 2 1/4 belly height and the 1.9"s are 4.5 inches tall. I plan on setting around 2 3/4 belly when finished. I am starting to think that the 4.5 inch irok's are going to be to large for the build. I had planned on running the black steelies with 1.5 irok's. Whats your thoughts?

IMHO after having built a few of these NB jeeps id say the IROKS are about as big as you should go if your going for that "scale" look. Any other 1.5 offering from rc4wd would better suited for these bodies. I personally like the stomers and slingers but the new invaders look nice under the smaller NB bodies as well. Good luck and more pics please!

I am digging the 1.5s as of late. The smaller combo looks so much better. Maybe not on all rigs but most. It's tough for me too because when I got into scale I was digging all the 2.2 scale comp rigs that were floating around. Now I realize just how un-scale they really were. They were just hard-core rigs built to win. I still have the one in my avatar and love it but I desire to build different now. Shoot even looking to get some smaller wheels for it...lol. Anyway my .02 1.5 stompers ftw I just got a set and they are pretty sweet. Good size...not too big not to small. Just perfect. Btw the lower chopped look.... ![]() Keep up the clean work good sir. |

Hey guys if you have access to a belt sander or even a bench grinder, i suggest turning the stomper tire inside out and removing that criss cross sidewall ribbing as well as the thick rubber line on the topside of each tire and it will greatly soften the tire. I did it to my set and makes a big difference.

Alright, made some good progress this weekend. I chaged the rear cage section to accept the bigger tires, built a skid/mount for the tranny, started on the bumpers/winch plate, sliders, and burned in some suspension mounts. I also shortened the bar behind the seats to make a cleaner look. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Bananaclip; 02-06-2012 at 06:26 AM. |
