This is amazing good sir. Are you going for a scale stocker look or are you goin for a scale modified type rig with a lift and what not?

Scale stock/ semi stock. Not a trail rig. Just like the 1:1!

I appreciate every ones kind words- I have no special tools, no "shop", nothing but motivation to get this finished so I can start working on something else (interior). If I can do this ANY of YOU can do this too.

here is the last of the pics I have so far-
both shock hoops brazed on-

close up of trackbar mount and drivers side shock hoop-

progress shot~

front leaf perch

making the last scale body mount finally! (out of brass this time )

first "scale" shot~

both sides made up-

rear spring hanger ground down/ cleaned up.

getting ready to make a quick jig for brazing (which didnt work!)

a shot next to the plans for a true 1/10th scale version!

rear spring hanger with jig-

this last pic is where my jig sort of served a purpose. the front spring mount is brazed on the frame, and I needed a way to get both sides equal so I drilled and screwed the square stock through both spring hangers then I moved it to the other side of the frame. (no pics of this but you get the idea) now I know exactly where to braze the opposite side front spring hanger.

last update with pics for a while- I am going to the keys for a week! MAHALO~

one more update before we head out the door-

This picture shows EVERYTHING that I am working with. Dont even think you guys (and gals) cant do what I am doing- I have seen pictures of some of your shops that you guys have- AMAZING stuff like uhhhh a vise?

look closely- 3 different pliers, a torch (from lowes) a pencil torch (from ace hardware) a dremel, carbon paper, file folder paper(for templates) the thin sheet steel is just behind the pic- thats about it really.

thanks,

L.R.

It makes all the difference. I wouldn't have been able to build my cage without it. It's something so simple, but so handy. Honestly, the three tools I use most are my vise, a small scale pipe cutter and my set of jeweler's files. Oh, and my cheapo Mapp torch from Lowe's. I would be lost without them.

BUILD IT YOURSELF! Not expensive, but it does take some time. If u just wanted the steel portion bent to shape that's pretty easy. If I were going to sell my frame at this point it would be 300.00 with nothing else.

You can do it!

Do you think all these little tiny scale peices are going to stand up to the abuse?

I have no effing idea! HAHAHAHA.

But it will look good being a pavement pounder! (if it doesn't hold up I am gonna build another frame to actually wheel)

I think for scale wheeling my frame will be fine. It's not gonna flex anything like the true crawler rigs out there- I can't wait to flex my 1:1 rig then set up a scale flex shot with my 1/10 version!

Putting an all Ford disk brake setup up front, power brake setup, finishing up the roof, then getting my "Ranger" decal package put on! We be Rollin n style then!
