1:10 Stupid Scale Bronco Build Dont expect to see a 2 week build in this thread. Also dont expect regular updates. Will be using K-44 axles, GCM t-case, Disruptor tranny, fxr spd control, DX7 spektrum radio, rc4wd Rangie steelies. Most everything will be 1 offs with a few scale parts along the way. first step is to model a real 1:1 frame~ (in 1:10 size!) "thumbsup" First few cuts..... https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Q...%2Bcut%2B1.jpg Lining things up https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-l...cale+cut+2.jpg a few more cuts https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-w...cale+cut+3.jpg final: cut it a bit short on the rear end- I believe I will be cutting another frame, this was just a test run. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-o...cale+cut+4.jpg Will be getting with my friend for welding it all up, I am going to pick up some 20 guage sheet steel (or something close) and work on folding/ bending up the coil buckets, body mounts, and fabbing some spring hangers. If any one has some good ideas on how to do this stuff post up. I am all ears. L.R. 8) |
Re: 1:10 Scale Bronco Build mocking up scale body mounts, note the paper scrap from several "trials": https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-b...paperparts.jpg Finished: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-v...er+parts+2.jpg Scale! Yeah baby! https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-B...er+parts+3.jpg |
Re: 1:10 Scale Bronco Build Awesome job! I will be watching this for sure. Definitely what i wanted to do for my scale build going on now in 1.9. I really like the technical side of this build. "thumbsup" |
Re: 1:10 Scale Bronco Build I'll pick up some 30 gauge(10mil) steel tomorrow the 26 stuff I have now is a bit too stiff to try and bend the 90* angles into. Not complicated bends just tough to do on such a small scale. The best thing I have seen online is the galvanized round pipe for ac ducts and things. I will have to pop it apart then I can cut out what I need. Will also pick up some cutting disks tomorrow too! L.R. |
Re: 1:10 Scale Bronco Build I'll be curious to see how this goes. I've got a '71 Bronco and have been been seriously contemplating making a scale replica. I had been planning to bend the frame rails, hadn't thought of cutting and welding them. |
Re: 1:10 Scale Bronco Build Got some small stuf dome today- worked with some tin, and made a body mount shock looks great, and started on a scale shock mount for the front. Will try and get some pics up tomorrow. L.R. |
Re: 1:10 Scale Bronco Build Definitely watching this one. Keep up the great work. |
Re: 1:10 Scale Bronco Build A few updates for you~ body mount bracket, coil bucket, and shock mount. this is what you start with to make the "scale parts" https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-e...0/IMG_4838.jpg just the shock tower- this will be made a bit taller than scale I think(and no one will notice) https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-e...0/IMG_4839.jpg the paper cut out version https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-5...0/IMG_4840.jpg https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-N...0/IMG_4841.jpg The real tab next to the paper part- https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-6...3/IMG_4843.jpg thepaper part is a bit larger(on purpose) the metal is true to scale as it matches myy schematic perfectly! https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-8...3/IMG_4842.jpg last one https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Q...3/IMG_4844.jpg Will tinker some more today- L.R. "thumbsup" |
Re: 1:10 Scale Bronco Build Looking good "thumbsup", are you going to braze or bolt those body mounts on? |
This is awesome bro. I'm honored to be able to contribute parts to this rig! Can't wait to see what you do with it! Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk |
Re: 1:10 Scale Bronco Build few updates~ will save the talking and just let the pics speak for them selves. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-s...0/IMG_4852.jpg https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-V...0/IMG_4853.jpg https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-m...3/IMG_4854.jpg https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-P...3/IMG_4857.jpg https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-H...3/IMG_4855.jpg https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-K...0/IMG_4856.jpg https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-5...3/IMG_4858.jpg addition of taller than scale shock mount. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-1...3/IMG_4859.jpg looking pretty good~ https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-n...3/IMG_4860.jpg more later- "thumbsup" |
Re: 1:10 Scale Bronco Build Awesome work man. I'll be watching |
Re: 1:10 Scale Bronco Build Newer parts, ready to out out of steel. 2 coil buckets, 2 shock mounts and 2 body mounts. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-G...9/IMG_4864.jpg all the parts cut out and magnet-ed on frame. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-f...9/IMG_4865.jpg front drivers side body mount is different so I have to make a new form for it. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-f...9/IMG_4866.jpg L.R. "thumbsup" |
Re: 1:10 Scale Bronco Build quick update~ the front drivers side body mount was a PITA! got it pretty close I think~ https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-k...5/IMG_4867.jpg I dont think it has enough angle to it, but again it is close. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-h...5/IMG_4868.jpg L.R. |
Re: 1:10 Scale Bronco Build Too cool!"thumbsup" |
Re: 1:10 Scale Bronco Build It's the PITA parts of the build that make it different.;-) Your frame idea is cool and interesting, will be following this build. Wishing you a lot of inspiration and very little perspiration. |
Re: 1:10 Scale Bronco Build its been slow going as I have been mostly tinkering with radius arm stuff. the K44 "looks" cook untill you start working with it- then it becomes a pita. not very well machined imo- It'll be ok, but it could be LOTs better. need to get a body and some rims and go from there~ like I said it isnt gonna be an overnight build. L.R. |
Re: 1:10 Scale Bronco Build This thing is going to be nicer than my 1:1 bronco! "thumbsup" |
Re: 1:10 Scale Bronco Build Um ya....you have skills. Welcome to the forum. I will be checking in"thumbsup" |
Re: 1:10 Scale Bronco Build Hey excellent work have you got there, I like it!!! Just curious…where did you get those chassis drawings??? Are they from a 1:1 Bronco and then you made it 1:10 to beginning your copy chassis??? I’d need chassis drawings for a F100 67-72’ model. I want to make my 1:10 scale of my 67’ F100 and I only found a good site FORDification.com where there are lots of drawings but not as you have…they are really what I’m looking for Any help welcome…and keep your hands making those nice 1:10 parts!!! Really nice!!! El Vasco!!!!"thumbsup" |
