After some abuse this summer the jeep is going under the knife for some reworking. The chassis has a few flaws that I need to fix. Also it is really top heavy and rear end heavy. I'm planning on removing the cage and rear bumper and rebuilding it out of some either brass tubing or brake line to lighten it up. Getting rid of the spare tire carrier to try and lighten up the rear a but more as well. Trying to figure out how to move the electronics around so I can get more weight up front too.

Overall the tires work well but the foams are too soft and the tires are too small. I've had to run the stock Losi rover tires more than I wanted due to how soft the stock mtz foams are. I'm thinking of putting a set of rc4wd rock crushers on my 1.55 wheels with a harder foam. Any input? The rig weighs quite a bit so I need a pretty firm foam.

i have a heavy rig on MTZ's too. what worked well for me was the foams from my Proline Flat irons, PLUS, the stock rc4wd foams. my rig is just so fat that i just needed to completely stuff the tires with foam for them to not fold under on a side-hill. i think my rig is about 8.5 lbs to give you an idea.

That gives me an idea for sure, I still think they are just a bit to small for the truck but I'll try that with the rock crushers. I believe my rig is closer to 9.5-10lbs. It's a tank

RE Foams- I'd agree with trying some 1.9 foams or get ahold of Eddie at Crawler innovations and see what he can do for you. I just got a set of his dual stage closed cell foams and they transformed my rig...in a good way.

As far as the bump steer goes, do you have your servo on the axle or chassis? If it's on the chassis you probably need a panhard bar.

It made the fender well too big and would have made the tire look offset instead of centered.

As for the foams I stuffed the 1.9 foams out of my flatiron's into the losi rovers and added some weight to the front tires, made a huge difference.

Another question, if I use a longer drag link or make it more parallel with the tierod will that help with the bump steer?

It might but it would cause other problems. When your axle moved up it would hit the drag link since it only moves up on the axle side.
I would try a panhard set up look at the Hand Brothers kit for ideas. I have one on my rig and I don't get bumpsteer.
I'm not sure, but it might also help if the lower links were more triangulated. Can you move the ends at the skid in any? Someone smarter than me might have better ideas though...

I can move the lower links out on the axle but not on the skid without some major mods. I'll look into a panhard setup and see what I can figure out. There isn't a lot of room for one.

Well I said goodbye to the jeepster this weekend a buddy of mine bought it. He drove it ten minutes and was hooked. But I did pick up a NB cruiser. Body of eBay and I have another set of mrc axles so look for a fj build real soon.
