Jeepster build I posted this up on scale4x4 but haven't really got any feedback so I decided to finish the build up over here. Its a 1970's Tonka jeepster based body using mrc axles. I started with a mrc pro roller and a stock Tonka jeepster. I used the losi 1.9 wheels and tires for build up. I'm going to run voids and the new baja mtz tires on it. Here's some build pictures. http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...d/5c68be7a.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...d/320ce482.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...d/d741ee2a.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...d/8b0fc09b.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...d/77d22aab.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...d/e17adbea.jpg Here's how it sits as of yesterday. Finally starting the finish assembly. http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...d/9d2f5910.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...d/cc1488a1.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...d/ad57f1f9.jpg Let me know what you all think. |
Re: Jeepster build Looking really nice! |
Re: Jeepster build Liking it alot, good that its different. |
Re: Jeepster build Thanks guys, just waiting on my 1.55 wheels and tires then it'll be done. http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...d/a58deaa3.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...d/622017db.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...d/20d93842.jpg |
Re: Jeepster build Got the headlights and tail lights done, got enough extra lights in my kit to put some rocklight on it to once I figure out where to mount them. Wheels and tires will be here tomorrow and my driver showed up today. Woohoo! It's almost done! Oh and I drove it tonight. Super top and rear heavy. Needs some front tire weights and it'll be fine. |
Re: Jeepster build Turned out nice man! Can't wait to see it on the 1.5's |
Re: Jeepster build Well after driving it for a while I need to outboard my rear shocks and get longer upper links. But all in all performs ok. Deffinately heavy though. |

Re: Jeepster build I have an old tonka jeep almost exactly like that. Looks good, gonna look great with the 1.55s mounted up"thumbsup" What tires are you gonna run? |
Re: Jeepster build Planning on running the Micky Thompson baja mtz but now I'm thinking the rock crushers might be a better fit. I'll have to wait and see. Wheels didn't show up today like they were supposed to. |
Re: Jeepster build I like the metal body....that should prove to be fun in regards to scaleless all around. |
Re: Jeepster build The only downside to it right now is it's super top heavy which is creating problems getting suspension tuned. |
You should add weight to the wheels and perhaps add knuckle weights to put the weight where you want it - the axles. Sent from my DROID3 using Tapatalk 2 |
Re: Jeepster build I had my 1:1 72 jeepster set for blue as well. ended up paintin it yellow though for some reason |
Re: Jeepster build I've got some lead fishing weight to put in the wheels and some sticky wheels weights for the axles to even out the weight issue. Hopefully some thicker oil in the back shocks will help too. I really considered yellow as a color actually. |
Re: Jeepster build Got to drive the jeep a bit. http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...0/03e0edee.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...0/61788706.jpg |
Re: Jeepster build Cool looking build. Nice work"thumbsup" |
Re: Jeepster build this is awesome i like it.. i would totally try a metal body"thumbsup" |
Re: Jeepster build I've been thinking about one of these. What's the width on the body? Looks like maybe 5"? |
Re: Jeepster build The body is really narrow. My Losi axles are stock width and 3/4 of the tire stick outside the body. I'll measure for you tonight. |
