Willys Jeep CJ-3B

Hi guys,
I just wanted to report about my little rig. I planed to build a Losi MRC based trail rig. It should be a little Suzi, but as I didnīt find any body I liked, I went on searching an other body, that you donīt see all the time on a meeting. And it should be relatively easy to build, because it was my first try.
So, I found this

Itīs a Willys Jeep CJ-3B. It looked perfekt. Flat fenders, simple form and a relatively high hood. So it should be easy to mount all the electrics.
I started by building the frame out of aluminum, added some shortened leafsprings and a homemade tranny.

First, I used the transmission of the stock Losi. The other components were upgraded as the time went by. Oh, and I really wanted a chassi mounted servo!

Finally, the crew arrived!

Body almost done

First color test and some stickers to come

And suddenly, youīre done!

Re: Willys Jeep CJ-3B

But there were some issues: The leafs kept braking, the cog was much too high and I killed more then 3 punisher shafts. But the motor wasnīt powerful enough!

So, first, I worked on the leafes. Some anti wrap bars should help. They were just mounted instead of one of the screws of the axle. Simple, but it works

Then, I swaped the motor for a “big block”
http://www.abload.de/img/cimg3463yg4i0zyj0y.jpgJust a 45T and the HPI transmission. Now, this little Willys can outrun a stock SCX 10 with a 21.5 brushless. Wheelspin! And there is also enough torque
But new motor means new motor position. And that forced the servo to an other place. And as I was building, I got my hands on a new punisher shaft. Or, just a CVD. Now, the motor is very low, the servo as well. Makes a low cog. No more breaking of punishershafts as well. No flaws till now!

But I wasnīt satisfied with the cog till now. So I decided to put the drivers on a diet. Their weight went from 200g to around 50g. Thatīs what Iīm talking bout!!!

Well, itīs not the prettiest build and itīs not the most capable rig out there. But itīs mine itīs unusual and I made everything on my own, as far as it seems possible to me.
Hope, you like it.

Like your driver, Terminator version T1.:)

What matters is your having fun with it, and the practice of DIY.

Looks like your doing good with the styrene.

If the body and the cage would have been a little shorter, it would help with stability.
