Default Trail finder jeep complete build lots of pics

Here is my TF jeep edition. It started out as a 1.9, but that wasnt working out and it ended up being a 1.55. This is the first scale rig I ever bought and the first build so it was long, and drawn out. Here are the pics.

This is how the chassis came out of the box... I think, except for the bumpers, I added them my self.

And here is my first tamiya body. I chopped it to see what it would look like, and for the option of larger tires.

And there are those larger tires. Borrowed them off a different rig I have.

This was my first paint job on an abs plastic body, I messed it up and decided to just spray lots of red and black on it. I think it came out pretty cool after all.

This was my idea that started out as my wheel wells, and turned into am electronics tray.

Just checking for clearance after some plastic welding

All welded up, now just needs some paint and to be installed back on the chassis.

All the pieces, including the new body.

Heres a few poser shots, first few with a motor and servo installed.

Tray finished, painted and installed

Body on with the tray installed

Just a thought... but it ended up in a different rig, cut in half.

The only issue I found with the tf jeep edition was the upper link mounts didnt seem to want to stay together. Heres a few pics of the axle off and the problem parts. I ended up drilling a hole through the part that the links connect to, and putting a long 3mm screw all the way through it, and loading up on the locktite.

I thought I was finished with all my changes at this stage. You can also see some of my other Jeeps.

This is the final look. I am happy with the way it looks, and performs. I have a 55t rc4wd motor in it, which for 10 bucks has been great, and a holmes hobby torquemaster br xl, great esc, a cheapo high torque servo for the steering and a spektrum rx.

Here it is with all my other jeeps. My sn doesnt lie, I love jeeps. I even drive a RHD cherokee over here in Oki Japan.

That was a long and interesting build. I learned a lot and it was the stepping stone to the next... and the next, and the next... and so on. Thanks all let me know what you think.

Want to sell the jacked up jeep body? I'm building a midnight pumpkin "truggy" right now, but I would love to do a jeep next.
