For a guy who's driven that Hummer so much you wouldn't expect him to be such a Nancy on that side hill....

The Jeep looks great Tommy and also looks like it drives stable. Lets see some details... Bumpers lights etc. "thumbsup"

Right! :ror: In fairness, the consequences for rolling down that hill were dire. It was an 8' plunge into some some 8' deep water....without even a good way to get in/out to retrieve it. Needless to say, we were all really careful. Of course, that didn't stop me from trying to freak out Patrick while he drove the gate. :mrgreen:

Details are definitely coming. First I need to finish fab work. But in general, here's what's left:
- rear bumper/winch mount
- front bumper/winch mount
- rock sliders (probably chassis mounted)
- paint flares
- replace front seats
- determine how I want to address the extension in the rear quarters, i.e. polish them to match the ABS or build body armor to cover it
- and I may even move the front axle in a little bit

So lots left to do. 8)

Thanks! It's right at 11.5", if I recall. I may shorten it just a bit. The front looks too stretched for the look I'm after.

Updates! And my apologies for the pics. They look rather fuzzy for some reason. :oops:

Got some bling in the mail from RPP yesterday. These are the 110mm length, but I think the 100's may have been a better choice. These limit my bump travel by a few millimeters and I'm not sure if all the droop travel will be a good thing. Testing will be coming...

The springs are also a bit tall. Does anyone know if these springs are available in different lengths or rates? Looks like a pre-runner! Axial springs look to fit, but I'd like to keep them the same color.

Very simple mount for the rear winch. It's attached directly to the body's underside and slides right between the frame rails. Now I just need to bend up some tube for routing the winch line and it'll be done.

My buddy used the original rc4wd duel spring shocks and used mini-t springs to soften them up. I don't know if these are the same diameter as the old ones though.

Wow Tommy, this thing looks great! Glad to see you built another Jeep. I was shocked when you got rid of the TJ, it ran so well. Looks like this one is a worker too 8) You always do some fantastic builds my friend "thumbsup"

The jeep looked like it performed good in the vid. Those wheels look great on there and the stance is perfect!, also you got my vote on the body armor I would do it in black! Waiting on front bumper. Keep up the great work!

Thanks. The Axial springs fit, but I want to keep with blue springs so they match....and I'd rather not paint them. Always nice to have options, though! :)

Thanks a lot, Steve! Yeah, the TJ worked well, but for Class 1, I couldn't run a comp cut body. Not to mention I always wanted an LJ anyway. There's still some hurdles to overcome, but the rig is continuing to make progress so it's all good. :)

Thanks! Yeah, I'm going to see if I can make some clean body armor for it. And if I do, it'll definitely be painted black so it doesn't stand out too much. I just ran into a problem with the front bumper. Going to see if I can resolve it tonight. :cry:

Thanks, Ray! It won't be "done", but I think I could get it out for a run sometime this weekend.....possibly later this week if I can get out of work early enough. Unfortunately, work has had me there 'til after dark lately and the LJ doesn't have lights.....yet! :ror:

I used losi mini lst spring and losi mrc blue spring on mine. They are a little soft but but a little oil fixed the bouncyness.

That's what's weird about these shocks. The spring rate seems very soft, but the springs are so long I can't get the ride height low enough. I think what I need is shorter springs, but a similar rate. We'll see. The front bumper still needs to go on, along with the winch and some more electronics so I'll be adding quite a bit more weight. It may level it out just fine.

Speaking of the front bumper, I should make some progress tonight. I had an issue I noticed yesterday where the front of the body wasn't exactly lined up properly with the chassis. This would've become painfully obvious after I built a bumper. So I had to remove the magnet under the hood and reposition it in the right location. That's all done now so hopefully I can get back to work on the bumper tonight.

The issue is that I want a little, stubby bumper, but C1 rules mandate the bumper be as wide as the windshield. So I'll have to compromise what I want for what is legal. Maybe I'll make two bumpers....one legal bumper and one good looking bumper! :ror:

High praise from Mr. LJ himself!! :) Thanks, man! Yeah, I definitely plan on rocker protection. I'm debating between attaching them to the body like on my 1:1 or maybe make them mount to the chassis underneath. Since this rig looks like it has quite a body lift, I thought adding rocker protection underneath might help to visually lower it. If I do that, I'll likely modify the sliders from my Toyota.

What about chopping a couple coils off these springs? retain the rate, drop the height?

I like the idea of making two bumpers. Make the legal one simple and just enough to make width, and the real one for non-comps the way you want it to look.
