| The OTHER yota...
Had this moved from 1.9 forums. It's always run a 1.7 tho til now. This is my HJ78 (correction from pixelnate). She just came in the mail today. I can't decide if I want to do a class 1 or a wild class 2.. this pic is as of 3/29/13 lots of changes and some fun days of running! Last edited by elsewhere; 05-21-2014 at 05:20 PM. |

Tame class 2 is what I was thinking too. Class 1 the track is super narrow. I'd have to run stock axial axles With rc4wd stamped wheels.. All my axles are xr modded and are wider. |

It's funny. I named my thread '...HJ75' but as it turns out the body is actually a 78 series Landcruiser. You can tell because the B-pillar is thicker on the 78s than on earlier trucks to give a little bit more leg room. Funny how much research you do when building a toy truck, eh? Anywho, I would suggest using the Trailfinder 2 axles if you are looking for something narrower than Axial's axles. On my next LC build (I now have two of the Radio Shack trucks) I'll be putting a double-cab LC body on a TF2 base. It's perfect. The earlier 7x LCs were leaf sprung on both ends. Good luck with your truck. Subscribed. |

TLT axles might work as well. definitely narrower than axials. I have one on Beowulf axles (6.5" hex to hex. They're rc4wd aluminum axles for the cc-01.. discontinued) i can get a front shot if you want. Beowulf are 6.5" Yota axles (TF2) are 7" wide hex to hex TLT's are 7" hex to hex D-35's are 6.9" D-40's are 7.25" hope that helps you select an axle! I love these yotas! |

seeing as how the beowolf stuff is disco'd and im lookin for a more scale setup the tf2 seems to be the way to go... ill grab some bushwacker flares and call it good... only thing im not diggin about the tf2 is the chassis is aluminium so i cant braze or weld to it, ntm im not gonna be using the body or bumpers and possibly the 2speed stuff.... |

You could a hybrid with an scx10 chassis and aftermarket leaves with rc4wd Toyota axles. To get it moving you could go with a DDK tranny and transfer case. Sent from my DROID3 using Tapatalk 2 |

Maybe the gym cross canyon. I don't think thats aluminum. Could be wrong though. Axial chassis are the easiest to work with I've found though. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2 |

| Re: The OTHER yota... I'm in the middle of this exact setup, it looks decent but I honestly think it would be easier to start w/ a TFII chassis if your budget allows it.

k so i got my chassis and bag O' leaf springs... track looks like it MAY be REALLY close to class1 with the axial flares i ordered.. took some time and fiddleing to get the leaf suspension on the front this after noon. looks like it sits ok, decent height but NO flex what so ever... the springs are stock f350 springs with all the helpers removed.. even with a BIG OL' 5000 4s slapped over the front end its still a brick.. red springs goin in tomorrow if all goes well... all this flex is from the 4linked rearend.. edit: and yes i know the wheels are 1.55s, thats just for the bench right now, i have a set of 1.9s im gonna pull off my heep build most likely, or heaven forbid a set of 1.7s! funny i had the rear mounts bolted far enough fwd that the springs could actually flip and reverse the shackles to the upward angle.. they STILL wouldnt move! super soft is fine for me, i may just add a small leaf to the bottoms if they are too soft. |

closer to class one that i was thinking! had to put blocks under the leafs because there was about 5mm between the tire and the fender initially.. |

well through all my mess i was able to get a running chassis. with the red leafs installed i put on some 4in losi shocks for damping. the rears are unsprung and in the lay down position to allow a bed of some sort to sit on the frame. rr flex is pretty good, front is still a little stiff but ill work with it, it IS a class one after all... the esc is a MMP with a CLASSIC 27t roar leagal Brian Kinwald motor haha! body isnt attached yet, still gotta figure that part out.. just posing. |
