Wow glad this got put to the top, I just went through all 7 pages and all I can say is wow this rig performs great, I really like the k44's under it they looked great, in the vid was it just me or do the tires seem stiff they look like they are filled with air and offer little flex, but all and all great build

This thing is still so fun to drive. Although now that I own a 1:1 fj cruiser it makes me want to reduce the tire size and ride height of this rig just a little bit.

Anybody calculated out how big a size 315 tire would be compared to the Nikko fj? @pardonmynoob?

This one belongs in the " is it real?" thread.

315 tire would be easy to calculate dimensions, just need all of the tire size. 315 is 12.4" wide, need the aspect ratio # and wheel size to get the rest of the numbers.

What's that in English? 35's? For a 1/10 Nikko, 3.5 inches or there abouts.

35"s yes. Hahah. But if I remember right the fj cruiser body isn't quite 1/10th. I don't remember what it is. I'll have to compare wheelbase and widths with the real thing. I was hoping you would have already had cause to do that for me ;)

The Nikko body is one of the few "1/10" bodies that is actually 1/10 scale.

I thought that heinie_21 was basing the scale tire off of the 1:1 tire that is 315 mm wide. I still need the whole tire size to do the engrish conversion, then calculate that to a "scale" size tire.

Example: Let's say that the 1:1 tire is a 315/80R/17. I'm just making up a number for this example, I have no idea what size the actual tire is.

The 315 is the cross section in mm, so you divide 315 by 25.4 to get the number in engrish. It is 12.4" ( 25.4mm= 1") then you multiply the width by the aspect ratio number, which in this case is the '80', so you get 9.92" (the aspect ratio means that the sidewall is X % of the width, in this case it's 80% of the 12.4" width). So now you have 1 sidewall that is 9.92" tall. There are 2 sidewalls per tire, so you multiply 9.92" x 2 and you get 19.84". The last number in the size of the tire is the wheel diameter, so now you add that to the sidewall heights. 19.84 + 17 = 36.84", so this hypothetical tire is 12.4" wide by 36.84" tall.

Still with me?? Now that you know the dimensions of the 1:1 tire, you can divide that by whatever scale you are working with. In this case it's 1/10th scale, so you would divide 36.84" by 10 and get 3.68" tall X 1.24" wide by 1.7 wheel. This would give you the dimensions of a scale tire that is the scale version of the 1:1 tire.

To put it simply, he needs a tire between 3.5 and 3.75 inches. We're dealing with tiny trucks, not going to get exact scale dimensions of metric tire sizes. Just not enough options on our end.
