i really REALLY wish rc4wd would bite the bullet and just make all thier tires in the x2 compound. sell the x3's for cheap and get them out of stock already... the x2 is sooo much softer and comparable to the other tire guys compounds. | |

Thanks guys.. I appreciate you participating in my thread. Ok.. I got the bumper pretty much how I want it as far as fitment and whatnot.. As you can see.. The bumper can be bolted to the rails and then the body actually slides down behind it nice & snug and then bolts to the other 2 holes in the rail. This way, I can leave the bumper mounted if I have to remove the body for whatever reason. I plan to countersink the mount holes in the bumper so I can use flush mount countersunk bolts. Then, I have scale hardware I'm going to add into all those tiny M2 threaded holes just like the big boy bumper I posted earlier. But, not until I weld my tabs on. Oh yes, this will pivot down. |

Then you get some bits together.. Drill a thru-hole in one of the tab lookin' bits and thread the other tab lookin' bit.. Get a bit of brake line and cut small bits off of it.. Then screw the bits all together. Then, braze them on.. Sand blast the whole bit and you have this. |

Ok.. I think I got about as far as I can get without having my body-side mounts figured out. Not bad but, it ain't done yet! It works.. Goes up & down and whatnot. Pretty cool. It doesn't hang off the truck very much.. I like it. |

While that is really cool, it sure seems impractical. You have to drop that heavy ass tire every time you want to open the back hatch! I guess it's really only used on serious crawlers where most of the time the top is off? What is the purpose of it? Is it like a stinger for the back? Is protection at the rear a major issue? Not gonna lie, it's cool as hell...I just don't really get it. |

I think maybe its main purpose it to raise/lower the spare to the ground & back up without killing your back? Hell, I don't know. A swing out carrier would do the same thing but, how do you get a 42" tire up onto where it needs to be? This one you can lay it on the ground, plop the tire on there, bolt it down and raise it up & stick a pin in there. Seems easier to me. Although, I understand that once a tire is mounted to a swing out carrier, you just swing it out to get the gate open.. This one seems like it would be more difficult to deal with in that case. On that same note, I've been thinking.. It serves even less of a purpose for me because my gate doesn't even open! Haha. Maybe I'll send it off to a body wizard one day and have them make my tailgate open & close so I can put things in there. |

I like the part where the thing attaches to the other thing. The bumper has a lot of speed holes in it. I approve.

As usual DL another mind blowing build the bumper and tire carrier look spot on. Keep up the good work bro and the more pics the better since I can't make it out to your gtgs like I use to. Would love to see this thing in person. Maybe one day I'll make it out again just busy with life. Great build gonna be a killer. By the way any idea of a color for the body?

There are plenty of 1:1 tire carriers built like that. Either be looks or for bigger tires - it's function is there. Keep up the work Mate - she's looking stellar! |
