I machined a couple more bits today.. These things are tiny. All holes are M2 threaded. That's an M3 nut next to them. These will mount to the body and the tire carrier will swing up into their position.

Ok, I'd say it's about 95% completed. What do you think? Sure, it has some flaws, some things are not exactly symmetrical but, It's hand built! I don't care!

showing off that LockedUp hardware..

Oh no! I have to change the tire..

PLOP!

I just have to finish up the body-side mounting.. drill a hole for a pin or whatever..

Now, I'm not sure what to have directly in front of the wheel center. I assume the wheel is supposed to bolt the the carrier so, I'll need something at the center of the wheel. Hmm.. maybe a piece of sheet metal with some cool holes in it or something? This thing already weighs about 62 pounds.

I have been known to sacrifice performance/capability for something cool like this. I'm glad that I'm not the most competitive guy out there.. otherwise I might have considered doing something more "simple".

Next, I'm going to get to work on the front. I want to keep it easy & clean. I'm going to start with a RC4WD Metal Rampage bumper and hack it.

Rick (SS), its great to make Rick feel good about the flaws but the truth is...that is unacceptable.

Send me this rig and I will take the brunt of all the flaws that are on it.

Great job here!
I have the 1.7 iroks, and they rival all the terrain here my Pits did. I have changed the tires mid stream same day, and rerun the same course as my 1.9 pits on the same truck, and it went everywhere the same, with one exception. The Iroks did better in the wet mud. That's it. I recommend foaming them light though, so they squish nice. that's the key on those Iroks (1.7 versions).
Really nice JK here. I have a feeling there's going to be a bucket load of these at ECSC next year! And in Class 1! Maybe that Class1 course 2 wouldn't have been so hard if we all had a build like this! haha!
