Oh yeah, the leafs could definitely use some attention. I think they came off of a very used TF2, so the main leafs are pretty tired. Also, the leaf mounts and shackles need to be one hole forward on the frame. I haven't installed the shocks yet but I plan to.

It looked awesome on the rocks... Until the rear axle gears gave way. So now I have front wheel drive until the helical gears get here.

Time for a tear down and paint everything! I'm also no where near done with the exterior of the truck.

Things to do:
Headlights, side markers and other exterior accessories
Fill in those body mount holes
Paint the frame and wheels
Make inner wheel wells
Get some magnets for the front of the body
Maybe new shock mounts?

I finally got to take out the ol' Yoter and it was an absolute blast! It was incredibly stable and never had a hint of wanting to roll over. Unfortunately, my trip was cut short due to a a badly pressed RC4WD helical gear locker and ring gear.

The sad part is I wasn't even in a bind when the locker let go. I was simply cruising down a walking trail. hopefully I'll get a warranty replacement.

Welp! I decided to do a little post with pictures of my last crawling outing. Luckily, nothing broke but only the mirror and clear corner lens. I spent most of the day completely cleaning the truck after playing in the sand yesterday.

The "bastard" leaf spring mounts and shackles were ditched and I installed the proper Tamiya Bruiser leaf spring mounts and shackles. It lifted up the back about a 1/4" and now it doesn't sag like it did.... YES!!

I also asked Jeremy (FatBoy) to build me a simple tube bumper so that it won't look so bare

I changed up some things on the ol' Yota.

The main change being the battery relocation. The battery (1300mah 3S) was originally strapped above the rear axle. This was supposed to be temporary until I could find a better solution for it. Well, I got fed up with the front end not grabbing anything on heavier rock obstacles, so I made a battery plate out of styrene. The battery plate sits between the receiver/servo and the transmission. Oh my word! What an incredible difference it made! I made lines that I never thought I would be able to make, especially [and limited] with the Rock Crushers. I think with a nice set of stickies, it would perform even better.

The front and rear axles are now running Helical gear sets and the motor has been swapped out for a simple RC4WD Rebuildable 35T with 56T/12T gearing- still a little bit too high.

I'll be building the front bumper eventually. I just have to find a style I'm willing to live with!

RC4WD 1.55 Invaders (They were on sale for $6.99 a pair!! Why not, right?)
N00b's radiator and inner wheel well sheet

The steering is all wonky. It always is straining when when I'm not giving it any input. I think it might be the short servo horn or possibly the placement of the servo. I'll work on it.

Thanks! The chain link shackles turned out a lot better than I thought, especially on the trails.

You don't cut styrene, styrene cuts you!!

The gas tank will hold all of the electronics and then I may either put the battery under the hood or make a toolbox- I haven't decided yet.










In the lower left hand corner, you can see the painted Dinky RC Cheap Seats and Interior painted up and ready to be installed into the cab. Just have to figure out how and do a little trimming to make it fit around the Bruiser frame.

It's finally starting to look like a truck again.

Next, is making the heel kickers and the inner door frame behind the fenders. The interior still needs some finishing touches too. Also, I don't know if anyone else caught it, but the FXR, receiver and BEC all fits in the "gas tank". The battery will be located in front of the firewall.

Just a little shakedown run. I would have posted a video but I forgot that my radio had the stupid low voltage battery alarm. Oh well.... maybe next time.

This interior is giving me fits- I think it's now where I can work with it.
