They suck in every aspect except for making awesome tire rubber marks. I do run them without foams so they do perform okay. I never meant for this thing to be a first class performer, so it's all good.

Thank you, Matthew. I've been meaning to ask what kind of airbrush do you use?

I'm a Paasche man. But that said, it only comes out every so often. I use both a Dual and Single action. Dual for fine detail, and Single for bigger stuff.

Hmm, those airbrushes aren't too bad! I was thinking they would be a lot more because of the fancy name. I'm a totally derp when it comes to airbrushes.

Since I probably wont use it too much either, I was looking on eBay and found a $60 kit with a small air compressor. It looks like a good kit for the money...

What a great day to go wheel and mess around with the new iPhone camera lens.

Everyone meet Charlie; Charlie, meet everyone.

Charlie has spent 15 years working at a financial advisor firm and absolutely hates it. His Toyotas and his pet goat make him happy. He also likes the smell of rich mahogany and only buys one glassware at a time- He doesn't even know why.

Charlie said that he might know Uncle Albert. He does remember a "Creepy" fellow that came into his office asking him how to stop spending all of his dimes on Toyotas and Richard.

None of Charlie's plans seemed to work for Uncle Albert...

The lack of doors are really doing it for me. I really like your little toy truck sir. Oh...... Since you are running door less some beefier rocker protection might be in order. . If your looking to replace the sleezy/ current ones I know a fella that would be willing to build you a set if you could give him a week or 2

Doorless creates better airflow in the little trucks. R12 freon with a mouse breath blower just doesn't cut it.

Thank you! It's starting to please me, but some nicer sliders would definitely make it more attractive.

Now, if my airbrush kit would ever get here....

Finally received the airbrush kit! It is incredibly different than what I'm used to, but it sure does make anything look that much better [in the right hands].

Just to get the feel for the 'brush and the paint mixture, I painted the little Tayite's interior last night. Turned out better- better than white anyway with no runs! It's nothing impressive by any means, that'll come later when I get some more hours in.

Not big updates to speak of. I really haven't driven it since I painted it. I may order up some new tires and make a bumper for it, but that's about it.

Mr. Bananaclip was nice enough to make me a 2nd set of his sliders. They look amazing! Thank you! Still need to install them though..

It has been a while since I've updated this thread and I have some good upgrades that are in the mail (1.55 Pitbull Growlers) or that have been installed.

First, was to get rid of the saggy front end. I took out the completely flat red springs for stock black springs.

Next, I finally installed the incredibly fancy Bananaclip sliders. I have to say, they look 1000x better than those sleazy sliders that were installed previously.

After messing with the transmission mounting, I finally decided that I needed a new case. Stupid plastic!

This is how it started:

Because I'm going with a linked front end, I had to make a 3 link apparatus that resembles the 1:1 Toyota stuff. Don't hate on my sick brazing skillz...!

Here is what I found in my random parts bin that will work as shackle mounts. If you haven't noticed they are the stock Axial Wraith Ackerman arms. They work PERFECTLY! Also, those shackles are, in fact, #41 roller chain.

Well that's it for today! I'll pick back up on it when all of the other parts get in. Like the body, wheels, tires, links, and more!
May not be the route you're currently going, but check these guys out:

Obviously that was the first setup I had on the little 81. Honestly, I did not like the way it performed, nor did it look right- in my eyes. That's why I switch it to leaf springs on all four corners. It is a ton more fun to see it teeter-totter and try to keep it on all feet.

I love the fabrication that you've done though!

So I saw this truck in the classifieds, it was for sale for an insanely cheap price of 200$ shipped because the PO received it damaged in shipping. The timing couldn't have been better as I just sold some shocks and an axle and only had to come with I think 50$ out of pocket. I needed another hilux like I need a hole in my head buttttt when a bruiser chassis wih Yota axles and helical cut gears with a cool chopped body and drive line shows up for 200$ shipped you kinda gotta jump on it...

I bought it as a slider and tossed the Locked up TG reps on first

Meh... Tires were to wide for my liking... So I swapped with the OTA

Now thats the ticket... Scale hubs tossed on and 8 lug because I'm so unscale when it comes to little trucks

I fixed the bed in about 4 minutes using some CA, plastruct, and shoe goo. Original plan was to just flat black it. When I went to buy paint this navy blue was calling my name soooo that got sprayed on instead

Added some crawler graphics silver stripes, detailed the grill, MTHead emblems and some rot holes which I still have to wet sand and hit with my rusting agent. I also painted the hole inside of bed with rust paint and sprayed over it. Hoping when I went sand it a bit the look I want comes up.

Sat on chassis for a few quick pics. Enjoy !

Gotta finish stripes, weathering, mount electronics, and paint radiator support since I forgot again today. Then I'll build some armor for it. Then I'm gonna beat it like a red headed step child #beaterbomb
