Got busy with work and I'm restoring a 55' Chevy truck. I hope to get some more done this weekend.

Rough cut and fit some plate to cover the hatch. Still need to trim and do the final fitment.

The plan was to cover the hatch so you could see in the back window. After bending and cutting it became clear that my plan needed to change. Once covered I wouldn't be able to get to the electronics. The more areas get covered the harder it becomes to take things back apart. Long story short, I decided to "black out" the hatch area. This will allow easy access to the electronics as well. They'll get painted black.

Installed the short shaft from Super Shafty. Thread locked and reinstalled the split skid.

Installed the driveshafts.

Installed the Axial universals.

Decided to go back to the RC4WD Rocky Country. Other tires just weren't going to work. These required removal of the inner fenders as well as a bit more lift on the body. Overall it will work out.

Random shots. Glad to get back to working on the wagon. I had a case of builder block and shelved it for a while. Glad to start knocking the dust off this build.

Made a little more progress this morning (no pics). Did more trimming on the body as well as the floor pan. I think I've got ride height set now.

Running into design issues. The more I bolt together the harder it's becoming to bolt or unbolt other parts. Struggling with how to build it and allow access for maintenance. Original plan was to fill the hole in the roof. Looks like I'm going to need a removable piece.

More to come...

Covered the All-thread links. Did a final nut and bolt to the chassis. Just need to remount the servo.

Went ahead and filled the shocks.

Issue:
Unable to line the hole on the driveshaft with the shaft coming out of the split skid. Just a touch off. Not wanting to boar the hole on the shaft. Not sure of the work around...

A little trimming to fit the rear RC4WD bumper

Sometimes you have to do things you don't want to do. Like drill out the output shaft and driveshaft yoke to make everything line up. Problem solved now.

"Houston, we have contact!" May need some body trimming to help with tire rub. Big tires, mo problems.

Small bites... It'll get there.

Today's goals:

Permanent mount of the body belt line (black portion).

Make tabs/mount front bumper.

Mount servo.

We'll see how far I make it.

Remounted the rear bumper. Decided to attach it to the body. I wanted a tight fit. It looks like it fits the body better.

Cut out some of the area below the grill. Installed the RC4WD winch bumper.

Got the belt molding glued in place.

Still need to work out my servo mount...

Yep. Wiper flares look great. Raid some unsuspecting AutoZone trash cans?

No, you told me about it months ago. I tossed the ones from my truck in the door panel. Finally used them. Good tip. Thanks.

They give the rig a more completed look.

So I got the servo mounted. Little "slotted hole" did the trick. That's it for tonight. Hope to make some more progress tomorrow.
