| Early Bronco platform
I would like to put a scale EB together and wanted to see what the thoughts are on the best rtr platform for a scale build. CC-01 no solid axle, CR-01 axles look way to big, SCX10 G6, Wraith, Trail Finder? What's your experience?

| Re: Early Bronco platform Depends on what body you want to run. The tamiya body is quite a bit smaller than the hpi.

Probably the Tamiya, it looks better with the grille and mirrors maybe closer to scale?

im not going to suggest a particular truck but keep in mind most of these trucks are very different and excel in different regions.

I just sold a tamiya body, they have a very short and narrow wheel base. You'd probably have to run tlt axles or a custom narrow set of axles. Maybe the mini rc4wd 44's. What you need to do is first decide on what body, tower hobbies usually has the measurements. Then look for axles that will fit.

I have a set of TLT axles but I don't think they really fit into the scale category. I would rather find a RTR that I could build along the way. Maybe a Tamiya body isn't the way to go, I just like the look of the CC-01 but want solid axles. I don't have an lhs and ordering parts for trial and error isn't my cup of tea. Maybe a complete custom build is the way to go? I was just hoping somebody had some input on a body/chassis that worked well, or if they were going to do it again, they would do _____ and _____ I have enjoyed this hobby because it is innovative but I don't want to buy a wraith to find out the proportions are comically out of line. I would like to thank everybody for the input so far.

Then you're best bet would be to look are the web, find a 1.55 bronco you like and model yours after that one. I haven't searched but I know there are several bronco builds on this site alone. See what they are using for a chassis and axles. That'll take most if the guess work out. I have a feeling you be doing some custom fab work at some point though.

AK said it, you have to BUILD a scale truck. With that being said, stick with a proline or HPI body and you can run commonly available axles read: axial or rc4wd (even with 1.9's they will look proportionate). My gut for a scale rig is the TF2, but you need to swap the front end to a 3 link or 4 link setup(ezpz). most importantly, HAVE FUN! L.R. edit: if you want to go overboard here is my build: 1:10 Scale Bronco Build I also suggest you look at AKfordfans Bronco as well as 66Sprint6's build. L.R. Thank you! I have been following your build for quite a while, it is very impressive! Your reply is what I was looking for. I started to draft a frame design in CAD off my '75 but it never made it far. Where did you get that image?

I have decided I like the RC4WD setups but I am not sure of the differences between the TF2 the Yota or the Trail Stomper. Anybody have any ideas?

This is my bronco. I used the proline body. My chassis is based upon the axial but I used BPC aluminum frame rails. Has the older goat system in it and crawls great. |

Did a quick Google search for "early ford bronco frame" in images. Lots of good info here...scroll down for the frame pic and enlarge(scale) it to your required size. Same drawing I used to get my frame laid out and I'm using Axial braces. 1976 Ford Bronco Tech Diagrams pictures, videos, and sounds | SuperMotors.net |

If you have the ability and time, build your own!!! I ended up building mine off an SCX10 chassis and it slowly changed from a simple cut frame, SCX10 axled scaler to a tweaked frame, front engine, transfer case, full body/interior/engine bay rig with modified Yota axles. It depends on how far you wanna go! Reading your first post tho, I would say grab an RTR Dingo or similar SCX10 and a Tamiya body, cut the frame down to the right length and you will have a simple yet good looking scaler that will perform pretty decent as well!!! A little time and effort has produced a CAD drawing of a frame that I would like to build. The Tamiya body looks to be the closest to scale size but is too wide which explains why people think it looks too short. Any thoughts on building a fiberglass body that could be narrowed to the right size?
